Hanging fir trees upside down goes back to the Middle Ages, when Europeans did it to represent the Trinity. But now, Christmas trees are shaped with the tip pointing to heaven, and some think an upside-down Christmas tree is disrespectful or sacrilegious. The trees were recently introduced to retailers for in-store displays, so more ornaments could be displayed at eye level to the buying public. And they left more floor space to hold extra stock of decorations. But the upside-down Christmas trees have caught on, and are being sold to the public as a novelty piece.
Essentially, it has no covert meaning.

The upside-down Christmas tree is meant to represent the Trinity. The practice is not new but rather dates back to the middle ages.
At stores, it is a popular way to keep the ornaments at eye-level but it caught on and people started using upside-down Christmas trees at home too.

I think that some people use it as symbol. My friend put her Christmas tree upside down one year because of her brother died and the did it to symbolize the death of her brother. She said it was the most upsetting Christmas she ever had.

They worship the god of triangles!!
Or they fell on their heads and no one has told them they are upside down yet. Tragic.
They don't want to get the carpets dirty?
They are so pessimistic that they can't even afford to have fun at christmas?
They are from New Jersey!

means anti-christmas and also Evoking a 12th century Central European tradition of hanging a tree from the ceiling at Christmas, this unique 7' pre-lit fir is inverted to ensure a smaller footprint for less-spacious areas, and allowing more room for the accumulation of presents underneath. Originally designed for specialty stores to display delicate ornaments using a minimum of floor space, the unusual tapering shape allows the tree to stand in places that do not accommodate a traditional holiday tree, such as between two armchairs or in a corner. The trees weighted base provides extra stability to prevent tipping and leaning, and it has 3,700 lifelike PVC branch tips that are carefully pre-strung with 800 bright clear commercial-grade lights. The inverted shape makes it easier to see ornaments, which hang away from the dense needles and do not get lost in the foliage

it doesn't really mean anything. It is a tree style that goes in and out of fashion. The thought behind it is that you can get the gifts closer to the base if the tree is up side down. I don't think it will ever get popular ehough to overtake the right side up fashion, though.

I knew somebody who did that once, it was a hoot! They were looking for something different to do, and they also didn't have any floor space to sacrifice for it. So they hung it from the ceiling in the middle of the room and hung lights all over it so it was kind of like a chandelier! Actually kind of a cool idea, it was over their buffet table.
Sometimes people attach too much importance to the meaning of Christmas trees. It is a decoration, after all, and lots of people don't have one at all. I think it is fun to come up with different ideas to do with them.
