Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender - March 2007

There is this cute guy at work.... we've always kinda talked and flirted a little, but today I happened to mention that I hang out at a "frat house" because i like to party crazy break **** and get rouwdy. I told him I don't really hang out with girls becuase they are whiney and annoying. After that he seemed a little more interested then usual. Is this a turn on? or does it just make you want to hang out with me more, but as a friend?

I've seen lots of questions int the LGBT section with people saying "They are born gay". Im a Gay Teenager. I have something to say about that.

I never chose to be gay. I swear I didn't. I've always like guys. Its complicated for me to explain because its something I really want to clear up and understand myself. Then again, I don't know how I could have been born gay? Like I said, I've always liked guys. I've never been, or I don't ever recall, being attracted to a girl. I will admit, I do think girls are beautiful, but I could never see myself dating one.
The question I guess is, What is the TRUTH! The truth about being born gay or choosing to be gay. Again, like I said, I never chose to be gay, I've always liked guys.
Please don't give me dumb answers, Im being very serious.

Mkay, so I'm gay, and I have a girlfriend. Things are not exactly peachy, she lives far away and we barely talk anymore. So I'm concidering breaking up. uh yeah i got a problem. im a 7th grader girl who is like sooooooo into girls and in school i think some of these girls are mad hot and i cant pay attention in class, especially at math when my biiiigest crush sits next to me. once i had to do a project with her, like make a math poster thing and present it to ma class and i got sooo shy that i lost my voice and everythin...and this last semester i got like a 80 somthin average. i cant pay attention in class at all...i only stare at girls and when they smile it gets me crazy and i just day dream all day. and when i walk up&down the stairs i cant help but stare at their...ya know. so wat can i do to get a betta grades?

My friend who i knew for a very long time is bisexual. I mean i have no problem with it. but other people do i mean come on for what i think i think that it's none of their business longs they don't try to do anything with u. that's why i ok with having bisexual friends. It seems that to call something 'gay' is now beginning to mean that it's a bit rubbish.
If this continues (and all languages evolve, so I've no reason to think it won't), then to call youself a gay person may mean to some in the near future that you are describing yourself as someone who is not very good at something, rather than preferring those of the same sex.
Any suggestions for what a potential replacement word should be?

Where did the idea of coming in or out of the closet come from? We all know what it means, but how did it pick up this second meaning? (The first meaning being the closet you put clothes and stuff in.)

Also, how did gay pick up its second meaning? (The first meaning happy.) I know where the word lesbian comes from, but not gay.
