(1) Some stars are so enormous in diameter that it is thought that they could not have existed for even a few million years, otherwise their initial larger mass would have been impossibly large. These massive stars radiate energy very rapidly --- some as much as 100,000 to 1 million times more rapidly than our own sun. On the hydrogen basis of stellar energy, they could not have contained enough hydrogen to radiate at such fast rates for long ages, because their initial mass would have had to be far too giganic.
(2) It has only been in recent years that scientists have discovered that comets are primarily composed of water, and that many small comets are continually striking the earth. Yet each strike adds more water to our planet. Scientific evidence indicates that, if the earth was billions of years old, our oceans would be filled several times over with water.

Doesnt this support the "theory" that the bible is right by telling us that the earth is only 6000 years old????

I'm wondering how atheists were treated in England during the year 1799 (or was there a time when being an atheist would be more difficult rather that 1799?). My hero moves to a small village in England, a very Christianly strict village. Would people actually try to kick the hero out of the village by force, which might later move to violence?? But wasn't England a place where one might chose their own religion--or not have a religion at all??

This is for an assignment at my Bible College. I welcome responses from non-Christians. However, I am specifically looking for responses from people who consider themselves either evangelical or pentacostal Christians so I can compare responses. Thanks!

I was raised Catholic, but have not practiced in years. I was wondering what is the difference in the churches? Do I have to change my religion to get married in his church? I really love him with all my heart, I just don't really understand his religion at all. Someone told me his is one that feels the Holy Spirit, and falls to the floor? I really don't get that one at all. I have so many questions on his whole religion, can someone please help! I might have somemore questions later , too. TTYL

am going to ask enough questions to delete all my points. There are only 117 of them so it shouldn´t be too hard. This isn´t a question, this is what Yahoo answers is turning into, self-righteous journalists, vagabonds of the information world...getting tired of all the philosophy, the answers that people give are really believed to be correct, when there is not a single correct thought, just sanctimonius idealism. After a while, and it´s already suggesting itself now, Yahoo Answers will be more like Yahoo Statements, people giving there opinion in a way that is assumed to reflect the world, its supposed soul, yet it remains simply as an opinion...yes, this has turned into a self-righteous questionstatement.

Without being too judgemental - they really so look silly. I mean I can't imagine Jesus walking around in stuff like that.

hiya. i would consider myself a devout catholic but i don't agree with some of its teachings. i'm sick of reading from a script when i don't agree with whats written. yesterday in mass the local school kids were presented as the next to make first communion. i thought lovely they might be scared but they are part of the biggest family in the world. i can't remember which part of mass it was but the priest asked us we pray for this and that and the given response was "we do" i read from the same page as everyone else untill mother church "scripted" of course asked me! to pray for something i did'nt believe in, everybody said "we do" i on the otherhand said "no!".
then when it came time to offer each other the sign of peace i did'nt give the proper response i instead either nodded or said hello. i know its against all off christs teachings but isn't it time we werent forced to give a cursory handshake. it means nothing if not meant!.

psychological damage caused by christian beliefs?
Teaching small children that they will go to hell for all eternity and be burnt by God for not following Him, clearly can have a terrible psychological impact on people(me for example). It should be the responsibility of the state to protect children. The state allows it to be taught to the impressionable. Should it be the height of the states responsibility to acknowledge that there is no evidence for such a place and it should NOT be taught to people because it will clearly lead many people to lives of depression? And it surely cannot be hidden behind the guise of freedom of religion?
what do you think. Take time to answer I will read ALL answers. Just want some feedback.

cried at mass?. i'm talking about mass in general not weddings or funerals. yesterday my eyes welled up and i'm a big strong bloke. any time i think about christ on the cross i get close to blubbing. yesterday it hit me big time. i had to reach for a hanky my girlfriend noticed but said nothing. i asked her when we got home "did you see me about to cry?" she said "yep everybody does at one stage". so does everybody at least once cry in mass?, i have no problem with crying in mass (as long as nobody sees me do it). more questions to follow, regardless of catholic protestant jew or muslim.
