When my brother turned 13. My mom and dad started to give him condoms and gave him the "birds and the bees" talk. But when I turned that age, they didn't tell me anything. And they still haven't had the "birds and the bees" converstation. So I basically didn't know about sex until I was about 14. My friend told me that same thing happend to her and her brother.

okay so apparently ive gotten 2 violations inside of 10 minutes. both violations have no insult or profane language used in them but instead have opposite opinions from the question asker or those who responded to the question.

i propose a reccomendation. this reccomendation should be more than obvious but fro some reason some people dont seem to understand it. if you personally have not been harassed then dont report someone, reporting someone simplybecause they have a different opinion than yours is idiotic.

for me this is the 5th or 6th time ive hada violation for literally no reason. so dont report people for not having the same opinion as you do.

deal?

in this case i was reprted twice by religious people simply because i responded in a way that they didnt like. so this mainly goes for you religious people.

Rape, abuse, etc.

Why do these words attract women so much. Certainly more than they do men! Most of the women's movies are titled with these words. The Destroyer, doesn't attract them unless it has Of Emotions behind it.

Or molest you, or steal your wallet, or....when does the offense get to the point where you can use lethal force to defend yourself? Religions may have different views, laws may be different in different societies, you may not agree with any for your own reasons. What do you think?

I don't mean to be funny, but here in godless Britain we keep hearing how 75% of all Americans call themselves devout Christians, and 35% believe the Earth is 6000 years old and atheists there all try to hide their beliefs, yet Yahoo Answers is awash with atheists with some brilliant questions! It is very encouraging. Do any of you have any atheist friends who do NOT use Y!A? It would be great to think this was actually just a tiny proportion of American atheists, partly to give the lie to the statistics about your country, and partly because the stats above reflect the spiritual makeup of Britain 150 years ago when it was the world superpower! (There will be some reading who didn't know that; yes, I know we're not now, and it's fine.)

I love the US and Americans, but what proportion of American atheists do you think are represented on Y!A? Have the American religious right (at last) got grounds to be nervous? Can we expect an epidemic of critical thinking to break out there soon?

I was raised Catholic (both parents are lapsed Catholics, who don't go to Church other than Christmas and Easter), though I enjoy going every Sunday.

My dilemma is that I don't believe in many of the Catholic teachings (Papal infaliabilty and rule changing, Purgatory, priest-only Reconcilliation). My husband is an Evangelical Christian, and I tend to think the same as him on many points (perhaps because he is very convincing, and I don't honestly know enough about Catholicism to defend my 'beliefs'?).

However, I don't agree with the 'speaking in tongues' part of their worship (which happens each service, and which I honestly find quite un-nerving), although I do believe in 'laying on of the hands'. I also find that I like the calmness and discipline of Catholic worship as opposed to their method of shouting out and waving their arms.

Should I start going to his church (an idea which I am about 80% uncomfortable with) or continue going to Mass, even if I don't believe fully in it?

Strategically, there is always a last line of defense. In the military world, they can be overrun. In theological debates, faithfuls always seem rational when argumenting until they decide to be offended and claim "blasphemy". That is their last line of defense from which no one can really fish them out. It is a convenient position that vehiculates sacredness to an avoidance of answering. I thus claim unfairness in debates with those who scream "Foul" when they have nothing more to defend themselves with. I welcome debates where theists will answer honestly and without looking for a sanctuary whenever they get verbally licked. Challenge anyone?
