Of course i would be offended. And i join you in your feeling offended.

I suspect you might get a lot of people answering this question who talk like social authorities in that they dismiss your concerns as being unimportant or downright stupid. However, I doubt these people actually study human social groups, or are aware of the concepts of Micro to Macro.

Sadly, many people will continue in their ignorance rather than researching what they are talking about *sigh* However, some just might click the link i've provided below, within the link is a rant followed by a link to "the pyramid of hate" and a break down of the micro to macro concept. ^_~

Also, if someone where to take a step back, they would realize there is a valid reason you are offended. It is not a proud thing to have one's culture(s) and sacred religious rituals trivialized by a degrading show of disrespect included in the sports teams use of war chants and sybol slogans.

Actually I thought it was a compliment.
Sports teams pride themselves on strength and power and agility and intelligence. That is why sports teams are named after the things they admire most. In this area is the Eagle.
They are magnificent and the High School class unanimously voted for the Eagles. Most people want their team to represent something that stands for something good or powerful or admirable. Living in the 7 tribes nations of Indians in Oklahoma.
They fought over which tribe would be chosen until they said, you have to choose something else. Wouldn't be fair to the others.
Now an Indian is offended?? I would think that would be the highest compliment.

That would be funny. I'm not sure how to fix this problem. People associate strength with the Blackhawks, Indians (even though the thought is Native Americans) and redskins.
Sorry it offends you.

I don't understand that way of thinking. It is actually a compliment. It is the same as accrediting Native Americans with being mighty warriors.
