at my church, i heard about Alfred Kinsey and how he is the "father" of the sexual revolution. after doing some research it appears that he said that having an exclusive sexuality is extreme and not our true selves. is he then saying that we all all born bi-sexual and then make a choice from there. or that we are more of one sexual orientation than another? what I am trying to get at here is. "is he trying to say that homo and hetero sexuality is a choice. because that what i'm thinking he is implying. help me out here.

It seems really odd that rap music songs that degrade women, and promote violence against women, should sell so well with modern girls? Is it they don't care, or just like anything controversial or popular?

I'll admit this a selfish, navel-gazing question.

I have never really felt like an adult, even though I am very close to 30. I often question why I don't and actually wonder if I would be happier if I did feel like an honest-to-goodness grown-up.

So what makes you feel grown-up, or what is preventing you from feeling that way?

Having kids, a full-time job, a college degree and supporting yourself all seem to contribute towards adulthood. I have two and a half of those (working on the degree, but no kids).

I had a dream that I was in my bathroom, looking at my reflection in the mirror while brushing my teeth. As I was brushing my teeth, I could see that my gums were loose around my teeth, but they were not bleeding. I was actually brushing my teeth behind the gum (and my mouth appeared to be bigger in the mirror than in real life). The guy that I am dating was also in the dream, and in the dream was telling me to keep brushing like that every day and it will soon heal and get better. (Something like that) I can remember hearing his voice, but I dont remember seeing him in the mirror. Now that I think about it, I dont know if I saw my own face, I think I was only seeing my teeth in the reflection. Any interpretations?

I have a co worker who says how sometimes she thinks of how easy it would be to just "go", but then thinks of her family and those thoughts disappear. She says she doesn't think she would ever kill herself, but feels so numb sometimes and thats when she thinks of suicide- "breifly". She always makes sure to mention how it's out of the question for her, but I'm wondering if thats true. She said she's never attempted to do it; but will see images of herself laying lifeless and it doesnt bother her to see herself that way. This is an otherwise outgoing, sweet young woman who is always being praised at work and I dont know where these thoughts are coming from, or why she even shares them with me. I don't even know what to say sometimes. I don't know any family members or anyone who I could tell. What should I say/ do?

I have paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. One of my symptoms is religiosity. I have learned to cope with this problem by compartmentalizing all religion and spirituality in the "I don't have a clue" section of my brain. I used to be devoutly Christian but now I am agnostic. How important is spirituality or religion to mental health?

I've been reading about child prostitution and child trafficking and children being used as sex slaves in places like Pakistan and Aphganistan.

Now wouldn't it be extremely painful for a female child to be involved in intercourse? Because they haven't reached puberty yet and the vagina isn't developed so how can they stand it??

I got this idea from me because I have delayed puberty because of low estrogen(hence I'm 22!!!) and being on meds for it and it hurts like heck having intercourse no matter how much foreplay or lubricants I use. And I went to the doc and he said my vagina isn't developed yet so that's why it's painful.

So that's why I wonder if it's extremely painful for children that go into the sex slave trades.

I left friends and fun area - but lots of debt - to be closer to my family. I've been living with my parents b/c of their failing health & to get my finances under control. It's been 7 yrs!! I hate my job, my life, my old friends have moved on & don't talk to me anymore. I feel so alone and hopeless.

I want a new life. I'm in my late 40's, 1 divorce, no kids, no debt anymore - yippee!! But I feel so hopeless abt life. I want to change but have no motivation. I want to change careers & would not be adverse to moving away from my family.

Advice anyone??? How can I change?
