Question: Can a normal man date a feminist, or is something seriously wrong with a man if he willingly dates a feminist ? Are feminists only for men who are seriously messed up in the head ?

I thought the above post would be self explanatory but, apparently, for some feminists it isnt.
The above are quotes from leading figures of feminism.

And not a rant. Or if it is a rant it were the authors of the quotes who did the ranting.

Eco I have taken quotes of women who were LEADING figures of feminism or galleronsfigures of feminism among which a former president of NOW. Saying those quotes do not reflect feminism is like saying that Hitlers words and actions can not be taken in consideration to form an opinion about nazism.

Some said feminists are for normal healthy guys, but nobody said why.

So the president of Now is "extreme" ?

Juniper your comparison is faulty. The Black Panthers never advocated crazy sick sexual stuff or the subjucation of all whites. They just voiced for equal rights for blacks unlike feminism which doesnt just voice for equal rights for women.

Ka since you deem my words to be extreme then feminism is extreme since those are quotes of diffferent leading figures of feminism and not just and crazy exception.

2007-06-11 04:59:08 · update #8

Eco I never said feminism stands for all women the way I never said that nazism stood or stands for all Germans, therefore your comparison is faulty.

There is a difference between *feminism* and *femininity.*

It is a nightmare being under a feminist - and they do castrate in any way they can (and this is pretty brutal, believe me!) - the only way to maintain your integrity is to be able to kick back on your feet and regenerate quickly.

However, femininity is lovely in a woman (which is possible in its true sense, only in a good woman and not in an evil woman, for evil women resort to radical feminism).

It will lift a woman up, if a man affirms and honors that, rather than merely use that to put a woman under his thumb for his own purposes (as many predator men do).

I can't see recognizing femininity as anything wrong if the woman is treated rightly - for I don't think that I would be doing her a favour if I treated her as a man.

A normal woman would be as appalled at becoming masculine as a normal man would be appalled at becoming feminine.

The relationships that I have witnessed that involved feminism were between two people who were equally radically oriented. There are many men who are as obsessed with the movement as women (for whatever reason), and they make an interesting couple!

As for 'normal' men dating feminists...that, of course, would depend on the level of commitment from the woman to her 'cause'. There are many women who carry this 'label', but are simply interested in being respected as an individual and not being held back in her career or the choices for her life. I think this would be categorized as a thinking, self respecting woman, and would be a good mate for any intelligent, self respecting man.

You have selected some of the most extreme views of feminism on which to base your question, not unlike the radical religious zealots who take the word of the Bible literally, even when scholars explain the symbolism of the language.

Most feminists recognize this rhetoric for what it is.
Angry, wounded misogynists are incited by the intensity, however, and these words reinforce their hatred.

I don't even know how to answer your question directly, it is so twisted. So let me say this. Most feminists are normal. As long as a man and a woman have mutual respect for each other, they should be able to get along just fine.

EDIT: I don't know if SHE is extreme, having never met her, but the words you selected for your post are extreme.

You take a few out of context words and assume those that said them speak for all feminists. There are many inspiring and wonderful quotes those you selected are a radical few...

"It's so clear that you have to cherish everyone. I think that's what I get from these older black women, that every soul is to be cherished, that every flower is to bloom."

"The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn."

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

"We ask justice, we ask equality, we ask that all the civil and political rights that belong to citizens of the United States, be guaranteed to us and our daughters forever."

These quotes are better to describe what I believe... I am a feminist, I like men, I love my father, I am feminine, I am not militant or hurtful.

So to answer your question ... any man can date (or marry) a feminist and be happy. Because the majority of feminists are not the hateful people you continually try to make them out as.

EDIT: First, what am I am saying is not at all like saying "Hitler’s words and actions can not be taken in consideration to form an opinion about Nazism." It is more like... "Hitler’s words and actions can not be used to form an opinion about Germans." This is correct... Nazi's were a radical group of Germans and not all German people should be considered Nazis.

Secondly, your group of words are not "quotes" they are out of context, lack meaning and are fragmented... you are using these words much like candidates use a 30 second biased ad on television.

The type of men that date feminists are self-confident, independent, educated, and happy with themselves. A man that fears equality, a man who wants to date a doormat, and a man who receives his amusement by spouting veiled insults on Internet websites are not the type of men who are able to keep these intelligent and strong women happy.

Feminists are for any intelligent, rational and loving guy. It would boil down to that, which is personal taste and qualities expected in a healthy relationship. I don't get the rest of your ranting.

You're right, my husband is not "normal."

He's brilliant and compassionate and wonderful.

Sorry, I'll take him over "normal" any day.

Sure if he always wants to be verbally castrated on a daily basis.

I guess he could if he never knew he was dating a feminist. I feel sad for feminists - they carry so much hatred.

I would rather die a slow death starting with pulling all my fingernails and toe nails off first.....

They are tooooooo mean, and over opinionated.
