If you check the national or regional radar right now (3am Central Time) near this area you'll see that a huge storm was headed this way. Now it's completely gone for us...split in two and is actually reforming on the other side. This happens over this area (specifically McLean County, IL) ALL the time. Is there something about the humidity in this area? the elevation?...that causes this. Are there any weather experts that can explain this? Thanks!

I'm in Essex and the sun is setting. If I was in Clare [or offaly for that matter] in about an hour's time there would be little stars winking all over the place in the twilight.

I know that humidity is the percentage of moisture in the atmosphere. As far as I'm concerned if temperature is high we do not sweat and it feels us not comfortable. But people in the middle east use to tell that excess sweating is because of more humidity. How it is possible? Are they right?

What precautions can we take, if any, to keep the house safe? Aside from basic things, like having candles and food ready. What are the dangerous involved in a lightening storm. It was REALLY loud. Our phones went out and if it wern't for a surge protectoer, our computers would have too. Our dvd player even broke!

Tons of trees down, there is a downed power line, and my neighbors fence is totally destroyed. There have been tornado warnings in my area, but you never think it could happen so close to home, you know?

I'm interested in anyone's personal experience with one....thanks.

Guess I'll be picking up lots of broken branches and debris out of my backyard this weekend...*groan*
