The sun shines a spectrum of colors throughout the solar system. This spectrum is also known as the rainbow. When the rays of the sun reach our atmosphere, the Earth acts like a prism and takes in the color blue, thus having the sky (and ocean) be blue.

They sky appears blue to our eyes due to the way light from the sun refracts through the particles (mostly nitrogen) in the atmosphere. Truth be known, the color is actually a light purple, but our eyes do not distinguish this color well, so the color appears blue.

its not because of the ocean that sjust a retarted 4th grade answer. it is because the sun light and the atomshpere, the atmosphere bends the sunlight just like a prisim. it serpeates a bunch of colors (red, green, blue) blue is seperated farthest and is more scattered and that makes the sky blue.

That is how most eyes see the upper atmosphere mixed with ozone and nitrogen, we are able to see more than that, it is crimson, golden and blue, it reflects auras and colors of living creatures in harmony with the colors earth has in her aura and surface. The colors in the sky are supposed to be the colors in the rainbow and the reflection sent out after sunbeams get on earth.

Ozone when concentrated reflects the blue light spectrum. So all that blue wavelength comes into your retina, and you see the sky is blue.
Conversely, when you see something red, it is because red light is bouncing into your eye. Or the green grass reflects the green wavelength.

It has to do with the way the atmosphere bends light from the sun
