If you knew everything about the past and present, could you use that information to predict the future? Basically what I'm asking is that are any actually randomness in the universe, or do we just see it as random because we can not collect enough data to understand it? Please explain your answer.

all you have is:

-a long pipe with a valve at the end that dispenses water in drops (buret)
- a meter stick

-clamps, ring stand etc (not important)

thats it, now confirm what we already know: acceleration due to gravity is -9.81 m/s/s

the problem for me is, there is no way to measure time, therefore we cannot find time or final velocity.

ok so my physics teacher was talking about the formula and i sorta... dosed off ( im a baaaad student =( . can't pay attention ) anyways i wuz writing down notes and he gave this example

sqrt 2*30 / 980 cm/s = 2(.255) = .510 s

ahhhh, any physics buff students out that can help me ? im stuck because i have 30 for d , bu i don't know how he got from sqrt 2*30 / 980 cm/s to 2(.255)

i know its my fault for not being able to pay attention, so if you can help i'd be reaaally really grateful. thakn you ~~~!!!! ^-^

The membrane of a living cell can be approximated by a parallel-plate capacitor with plates of area 4.75 x 10^-9 m^2, a plate separation of 8.5 x 10^-9 m, and a dielectric with a dielectric constant of 4.5. (a) What is the energy stored in such a cell membrane if the potential difference across it is 0.0725 V? (b) Would your answer to part (a) increase, decrease, or stay the same if the thickness of the cell membrane is increased? Explain.

Thanks so much!

For about 10 years after the French revolution, the French government attempted to base measures of time on multiples of ten: One week consisted of 10 days, one day consisted of 10 hours, one hour consisted of 100 minutes, and one minute consisted of 100 seconds. What is the ratio of the French decimal week to the standard week? What is the ratio of the French decimal second to the standard second?

That story about how he saw that huge clock in england but really the clock clicked to twelve a couple seconds before he saw it meaning that the light had to travel from the clock and make a reflection which caught his eye. So he thought about velocity = distance over time and concluded that time stops in velocity for very little seconds...something like that, explain the story and the point!

Melting temperature for steel = 1532 C

Flame temperature for any hydrocarbon fuel air fire whose only
source of oxygen is still air = under 250 C

Burning temperature for paper = Fahrenheit 451F = 233 C

(you can check these facts with a pyrometer or high
temperature sensor or thermal imaging camera) Don't believe

I'm probably gonna do this ruetnely, (a good chance for me to vote you for best answers).

pls do give full work responses, so that I may learn.

1) Convert 1.90 km/h to m/s.

2) (a) How many square centimeters are there in 2 square feet? (1 in = 2.54 cm.)

(b) How many square centimeters are there in 2 square meters?

(c) Using your answers to parts (a) and (b), roughly how many square feet are in 2 square meters?

3) The smallest "living" thing is probably a type of infectious agent know as a viroid. Viroids are plant pathogens that consist of a circular loop of single-stranded RNA, containing about 300 bases. (Think of the bases as beads strung on a circular RNA string.) The distance from one base to the next (measured along the circumference of the circular loop) is about 0.40 nm.

(a) What is the diameter of a viroid in m?

(b) What is the diameter of a viroid in µm?

(c) What is the diameter of a viroid in in.?

Your teachings are greately appreciated:)

This is a hypothetical question. I would think that all of the atoms would desintegrate and turn into a finely powdered substance.. then I thought it would kind of explode since there would be heavy ionization with the nearby air resulting in release of energy and light... But initially the nucleii would be repulsed from each other. Anyway I was just curious of what would happen from a purely hypothetical perspective, and I was hoping I could get a scientific and accurate answer if it really did occur. I hope this doesn't happen to my iPod though.
