Weighs? ...and leave 3gm?

Weighs where? On the Moon, Earth, Mars?

Weight W is force
W=mg (measured in Newtons)
mass m is measured in kilograms.
g - acceleration due to gravity in m/s^2 (on Earth it is 9.81 m/s^2 give or take...)

If you take 70% of its mass then 30% remains and is equal to 3 gm then its original mass is then 3gm/0.3 = 10 gm

Please do not mix weight with mass.

Well, I could be sarcastic and say 3 grams, because that's all you left. Or nearly as sarcastic and say 7 grams, because that's the 70% you took.

But I think the answer you're looking for is: 10 grams (what it weighed before you took or left any if it).

1X = 0.7X + 3 g
subtract 0.7X
1X - 0.7X = 3 g
distribute X
0.3X = 3 g
divide by 0.3
X = 10 g

Maybe I'm over simplfying, but if an object weights 10 grams and you take away 70% of it, you'd have 3 grams.

Of course this all depends on if you are asking for the weight of what you've taken away (or) the weight of what you are leaving behind!

If you are interested in the total weight that's left behind the following should really be fun:

Micrograms Answer: 3 g = 3000000 ug
Grains(grains) Answer: 3 g = 46.2970 grains
Ounces(oz) Answer: 3 g = 0.105821 oz
Kilograms(kg) Answer: 3 g = 0.003 kg
Milligrams(mg) Answer: 3 g = 3000 mg
Stones Answer: 3 g = 0.000472 st
OR 0 st and 0.006614 lb
Pounds Answer: 3 g = 0.006613 lb
OR 0 lb and 0.105822 oz
Troy Pounds Answer: 3 g = 0.008037 t.p.
OR 0 t.p. and 0.096452 t.oz
Penny Weights Answer: 3 g = 1.92904 dwt
Long Hundredweights (UK) Answer: 3 g = 5.905239e-05 hw (long)
Metric Tons (or Tonnes) Answer: 3 g = 3e-06e-06 T (metric)
Carats Answer: 3 g = 15 ct

100% -70 % = 30%

3 grams = 30 %
so 1 gram = 10%
10 grams = 100 %

0r x * 0.30 = 3
x = 3/0.30

x = 10

Technically, the object weighs 0.098N. It's mass, however, would be 10 grams.

If 30% of the total is 3g then 100% will be 10g.

If all you're leaving is 3g, I would have to say 3g. Is this a trick question?
