A 7g bullet moving horizontally at 200 m/s strikes and passes through a 150g tin can sitting on a post. Just after impact, the can has a horizontal speed of 180 cm/s. What was the bullet's speed after leaving the can?

Anybody know?

My physics textbook mentions that this is a fact, however, it doesn't explain why.

This seems counter-intuitive, but is stated as a fact since experiments prove this to be true.

Why? How is this possible?

What is the Mach number for a shuttle if it starts re-entry after travelling around Eath in 1.495 h at an orbital radius of 6.73X10^-6m? Assume that the air temperature is -30 Degrees celcius....
----
what i did:
found speed of air...took the radius divided it by time to find speed of plane...and i got 1250m/s...
i used that speed and divided it my speed of air...and got mach 3.98...
Back of book...the answer says its mach 25 speed of shuttle is 7.86X10^3m/s

Ok I have a block of 200lbs hanging from two strings located at Two points. One is two units to the left of the center of the ring holding the block and 3 units up from the block. The other string is attached one unit to the right and 2 units up. Should the magnitude of the left vector be more then 200lbs? Is the concept here that my left vector plus my right vector = my downward vector?

A(n) 9 g bullet is fired into a 316 g block that is initially at rest at the edge of a frictionless table of height 1.8 m. The bullet remains in the block, and after impact the block lands
1.9 m from the bottom of the table. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2

I read an article that said if you really want to cut down a bikes weight to use light rims and light tires, because shen the wheel goes around it creates a ton of centrifugal force. But wouldn't this force push up just as hard as it pushed down?

Is it harder to move from side to side if it has more mass?

Analogy: Weight Lifting:
To reach a goal, sometimes weight lifters have to do other exercises, (disiplines), other than weight lifting to attain a quantum leap.

Is it possible that Science in general is too ridgidly disiplined and by being so stifles it's own objectives, even perhaps at the demise of mankind by failing to reach for other disiplines to attain it's goals?

And, mathematics is nothing more than an instructional language, it gropes and is subject to error and supposed correction; correction being perhaps just another error that happens to fit for a fleeting moment.

If there is no First nor Last, for all is one number issued from no number, then would it be wise to reverse engineer such a statement to adduce it's Truth? And, is not the afore-mentioned exactly what Physics is attempting to reach for?

Is something from nothing too incomprehensible to be grasped by numbers language?

Science is buffoonery in as much as proving or disproving the existence of God, and yes, that includes your infantile quantum mechanics.

Question: How much is that doggie in the window, the one with the curly tail?

I am selling a doggie with a curly tail, I have set a price, already posted on another website.

Using your scientific knowledge, and all of your mathematics, would you please now demonstrate the infallible wisdom of your pseudo science by showing all of us stupid people the price that I have set for the doggie in the window, the one with the curly tail?

And, when you fail to so do, then how in God's name do you assert the non-existence of God based upon what you call science, and puny mathematical construct, that can not even adduce the price of the doggie?

Good day.

While Exploring a sunken ocean liner, the principal resercher found the absolute pressure on the robot observation submarine at the level of the ship to be about 413 atmoshpere. The density of seawater is 1025 kg/m^3.
(a)How do i find gauge pressure on the sunken ocean liner

(b)Calculate the depth of the sunken ocean liner.

(c)Calculate the magnitude F of the force due to water on a viewing part of the submarine at the this depth if the viewing port has surface area of 0.0100m^2.

Suppose that ocan liner came to rest at the surface of the ocean before at started to sink .due to resistance of sea water, the sinking ocean liner then reached a terminal velocity 10.0m/s after falling 30.0 second.

(d)Find the acceleration of ocean liner during this period of time.

(e)Assume that Acceleration was constant, find the distance below the surface at which ocean liner riched the terminal velocity.

(f)find t it took the ocean liner to sink from surface to the bottom of ocean.

I just cant find the right method to get this...

If youre told that 2 forces will give a resultant force and you know the magnitude of only one of the 2 forces, the angle between that force and the resulting force, and the magnitude of the resulting force how do you find the other force????
Heres the exact question:
the force P has magnitude 5N and acts due north. The resultant P+Q has manitude 9N and acts in the direction 060 degrees.Calculate the magnitude and direction of Q...

BDW, The resultant force is not equal to P + Q

answers should be: sqrt 61 Neutons...and 093.7 degrees (ie from North)

Help! Im studying and just cant get this one

Ok so you abmit that a lighter object would require less energy to move in space what IM trying to say is the object would have mass It just wouldnt register as haveing any were playing fantisy here like star trek ok . Imagine if you are in a space suit and you are outside of the enterprise and you push on the ship with your hand whats going to move you or th e ship you of course is a larger object if youcould make the ship weigh as much as photon and you pushed the ship would move not you. that is what im trying to say. its what if. I know mass increases as you get to the speed of light a photon of light has no weight or gravity or mass so it does not expand my point is, they have reduced by small amounts the weight of objects in these types of fields but the size of the object stayed the same, Im just saying hypothetically if they did this in a way that was nearly 100 percent you could get closer to the speed of light easyer not faster than the speed of light. ok
