For some reason, the fluorescent lamp in my bathroom wouldn't come back on once it was turned off. I used to have to climb up on the vanity and jiggle it (the lamp) for a while and then it would stay on. This was unacceptable. I decided we would just leave it on at all times. It has been on for over two years now. How long will it last? Does it last longer if left on than switching it on and off 20 times a day? Is it different for an incandescent lamp?

EELS of single-walled carbon nanotubes has been done by several groups but nobody has studied spectroscopy of a nanotube carrying a current. If I do momentum-resolved EELS on a nanotube while I apply a current across it, look at the sigma-to-pi peak and compare the parallel and anti-parallel DOS, will I be able to see the effect of the current?

It is possible to form and collapse a gravitational field. I need an institution to verify that it is being done. There is a writing "The Problem and Repair of Relativity" found at http://360.yahoo.com/noddarc that at the end of it, describes the principles involved.

If a hammer has mass 500kg and it falls freely fom rest a height of 5m on to a pile of mass 1500kg. They then move together as the pile is driven 0.12m into the ground. The intial velocity of the hammer is 10m/s. The velocity after impact is 2.5m/s. The total Kinetic Energy of the pile and hammer is 6250J. The total Potential Energy of the pile and hammer is 2400J.

does anyone remember what happend to that race on star trek where they built a dome around a star? I mean you could probably start making matter with energy if you had the ability to harness the power of a "star" What if you could do the inverse for a black hole? Also what would be the effect of doing the same to the planet earth instead of useing it to gain energy you used it to shield it from energy? Would the earth start to super cool and become a black hole? How much do you trust the people in power and what are you gona do about it?
