I am interested in the physical part of geography, how it relates to the earth (though NOT geology), but not the human side. I am also interested in helping the environment, and partly in climate as well. Should I be looking at studying geography or earth sciences?

When Mark Twain said "Buy land, they're not making it anymore.", he failed to consider the active volcano’s around the world. Every day oceanic volcano's and volcano's that are near the ocean spew lava that ends up cooling and forming new crust. Can anyone tell me how much new land that equates to per day?
