I did a lab on science class and the teachers gave us some questions to add to our lab report.
It says, write the chemical equation for soap production. (it may be unbalanced)

I reall have no idea what to do..

What we used was
*Castor oil
*Sodium Hydroxide (20%) - NaOH
*Sodium Chloride (salt) - NaCl

and we ended up with soap.

Please help i would gladly appreciate it.

Our chemistry class is going over radiation, and I just have a few questions.

For Beta decay, does a neutron turn into a proton and electron, and then the electron given off as a Beta particle? And if so, how does this happen?
Also, how does a proton and electron turn into a neutron in Electron Capture?

And what is the decay constant?
Also, for the equation: Rate = k[A] where k=decay constant and [A] is the amount of material, what can be plugged in for the rate? If half-life is plugged into for the rate, does the equation work?

Cu + 4HNO3= Cu(NO3)2 +2NO2 +2H2O
You have 9.35 g Cu and .4 mol of HNO3

1. how many mol of Cu were initially dropped in the nitric acid?
2. One of these reactants were in excess, which and how did you know? (show the ratio)
3. What mass of Cu reacted?
4. What mass of Cu remained after the reaction was over
5. WHat volume of gas measured at STP escaped during the reaction?
6. what is the name of the blue crystalline substance left behind after the evaporation of the water?
7. WHat should be the mass of this blu crystalline substance? (formed after the reaction is completed, removing the unreacting copper and heating the remaining liquid to evaporate the water and form it)?

2Al(s) + 3Cl2(g) ---> 2AlCl3(s) deltaH = -1390.81

a. Calculate the heat produced when 10 grams of AlCl3 forms?
b. How many grams of Al are required to produce 1.00 kJ of energy?
xxxx
The heat of combustion for a sample of coal is 23.0 kJ/g. what quantity of this coal must be burned to heat 500.0g of water from 20(degrees Celcius) to 90(degrees celcius)?
xxxx
if 5.0 kJ of energy is added to a 15.5g sample of water at 10(degrees celcius) the water is still a liquid. Why?
xxxx
you have a 28.2g sample of a metal heated to 95.2(degrees C). the final temperature of the water is 31(degrees C. assuming no heat is lost to the surroundings nor the calorimeter, calculate the heat capacity of the metal.
