I am looking for ways that are not harmful to orchids to lower my ph to around 5.7.I am getting a ''ph pen'' and trying to figure out how to analyse water breakdowns giving by my state agriculture dept. such as what is acceptible for orchids.Knowing that is a rather broad question because of the variety of orchids,is there a book that could be helpful? I am growing a large variety from cattlyas, phalaenopsis, gongorias, paphs.phrags, oncidiums etc.thanks for any suggestions-Lee

I grow a plant called Basil or Basilic. It is a seasoning for Italian food. As cold winter is coming,I picked it from my garden and plant it in a pot. I saw a small plant grow from the main branch of Basil. This parasite does not have its own root or leave. It looks like a mixed spider web in light green color. Its has 0.5mm radiou climbing branches to search more planes to suck. Who could tell me what it is ?

I have a hydroponic basil plant in a jug of water sitting on my windowsill in my kitchen. there are all these little white "sea monkies" or bugs of some kind swimming around in there. They are realy "jerky" when they swim. I'm just nevous about what they will hatch into! LOL! Is it safe to still cook with the basil? Does anybody know what these could be?
