Who named these damned colours, anywhey?

i found this fungus in my yard today, it lookes like a starfish with its feet in the ground it was a pretty pink color and looked spongy, when i dug it up to throw it out of my yard i hit this glob of slime that had the most horrible smell. any body with any idea what the name of this fungus is? i grew up in the woods and i have never seen anything like it

Ever noticed how much better your grass and plants grow after a rainfall, no matter how good your watering technique with tap water? This must come down to the differences between the contents of rain water and tap water besides just the H2O, which they both have in common.

Actually I have Pawpaw seeds that could be of the same plant, but Pawpaws are similar to apples in that they need two different types of plants to cross pollinate.
