The commercial ones are grown in a mixture of cow manure and straw. When you buy them in the supermarket you need to clean them off before you eat them.

As far as what you, yourself, find in cow manure any mushroom that has not been verified as non-poisonous by a real expert has a decent probability of poisoning you. Don't eat that.

You can also find cow tapeworms and e. coli and salmonella and various other nasty living infectious things in cow dung. Do you think that in your haste to get high off 'shroom tea, you're really going to extract just the psychotropic substances from the fungi? Isn't it possible that you'll ingest more than you bargained for?

The only manure worth using for growing things is rotted manure, where the bacteria has been killed off in the rotting process. Otherwise, you're just asking for an infection.

And don't do 'shrooms, lame-o. Drugs are bad, mmmm-kay? Especially the ones covered in rump fudge (from a *cow*, no less--ugh. That is not the freshest orifice on the prairie!)

Yes. Cow dung provides the perfect nutrient needs for magic mushrooms (and indeed many other mushrooms) to grow. It has all the nutrients that these fungi need to grow.. so grow they do! They would most likely grow in the ground around the cow pat, where the nutrients have leeched into the soil. So find cow pats and you might find shrooms aswell!

Fungi are decomposers. This means if something is going to need decomposing, fungi is there. Cow dung decomposes, as do you eventually.

Cow dung has fungi and bacteria.

If you are looking to get high, I wouldn't use fungi from cow dung. You could potentially get a life threatening fungi infection if you aren't careful as to the type of fungi you injest. Also, bacteria from the dun might exist in a symbiotic relationship and that could spell bad news for your system.

Yea but theyre not the ones you eat with your veggies or on pizza, theyre the ones you trip on.
If youre planing to trip, go with someone who knows what shrooms to get and dont get caught in someones field, also be careful and dont eat too many your first time.

yea, but you have to know exactly which ones your picking, or else instead of getting high, you'll just end up dead

plus, digging through cow crap just to get high is pretty gross, call your dealer and get some pot... its not much better, but its better than eating something you pulled off of crap

Actually it's not IN THEM, it's under them. the manure is great for fertilizing them and making them grow. I am not sure if they are the ones you want to eat, but that's why they are associated with cow poop.
