I don' t enough about botany to answer your question fully.
But heres what I could dig up:

Papaver is a genus of poppies, belonging to the Poppy family (Papaveraceae).
Its 120-odd species include the opium poppy and corn poppy. These are annual, biennial and perennial hardy, frost-tolerant plants growing natively in the temperate climates of Eurasia, Africa and North America (Canada, Alaska, Rocky Mountains). One section of the genus (Section Meconella) has an alpine and circumpolar arctic distribution and includes some of the most northerly-growing vascular land plants.

I also know that cannabis plants are really tough and can grow in nearly every climate on every continent except Antarctica.

Marijuana grows wild in the US Midwest--it's called "ditchweed". Various psychedelic fungi (like ergot, which grows on rye) and plants grow around the world.

There's nothing in particular about the Himalayas or wherever that would make drug plants/fungi grow there. They grow all over the place. Peyote grows in the desert in the US Southwest, jimsonweed grows a lot of different places, "magic mushrooms" might be growing in a cow pie near you...they're everywhere.

Not that I do drugs. No, seriously--I've never even smoked pot. But I know things...

They don't all originate from those places. Your question is based on false information.
