Fibonacci series

Nature isn't trying to use the Fibonacci numbers: they are appearing as a by-product of a deeper physical process. That is why the spirals are imperfect. The plant is responding to physical constraints, not to a mathematical rule.

are you sure that they all have 89. you would have to count every sunflower, there ever was, is now, and will be.

they are not petals. they are ray florets. sunflower is not single flower.it is an inflorescence containing numerous minute flowers called florets.there are two kinds of florets 1.central disc florets and periferal ray florets.
