I was wondering about humans in particular, but most mammals have their sense organs and brains all located in a head. From an evolutionary standpoint it seems unwise to cluster so much vital anatomy together like that, but I'm sure there's a sound, scientific reason for it. I just... can't find one :\

Your cells, skin cells, blood cells, the flesh of your organs, only last a little while, and then new ones form and begin replacing them and eventually you have none of the original cells left, so you aren't even constructed of the same pieces of matter anymore. It's kind of weird to think about, because you're a totally new person. How long does that process take?

I've created mutagenic primers from the cDNA sequence of a gene of interest. I'm having trouble with the PCR in that I'm not getting any bands of amplication. I'm using a genomic DNA sample as the template DNA and am wondering if I shouldn't use a plasmid DNA for the DNA template - any suggestions? Thanks!

I was watching a creation "science" seminar, and "Dr." Kent Hovind claimed that only 55% of scientists believed in Darwinian evolution. I normally doubt Kent Hovind and his statistics, but this made me wonder what the exact statistics were. So, what percentage of scientists believe in evolution?

How do these things cause speciation?

This was a question on my study guide for a test about evolution that I have to take soon. I understand how reproductive isolation causes speciation, and I'm pretty sure I understand the geographical isolation, too. But by variation, I think my teacher was talking about genetic variation, and I'm not sure how that would cause different species to be formed.
