Of course there are millions of theories out there.
But I've always been interested in knowing what people think it is.
No for the sake of actually finding out what it is (though that would be sweet) but just for the variations.

So, what do you think it is, and why?

Our sun is not expected to burn out for another 5 billion years (it's already about 5 billion years old). But 2 billion years from now, our galaxy will collide with its neighbor. Suns and stars will be tossed around everywhere as the two galaxy becomes one.

In the spectral classification of stars, there are the major classes--OBAFGKM in the old HKK system--which are subdivided into subclasses, O5, G2, G1, K2, M4. What I seek is the relationship used to compute these subclasses. What formula lets an astronomer say a star is G2 verses G3 or G5?

In the asteroid impact theory of the extinction of the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs (and over half of all the other species on the earth at that time) died off largely because:

a)the impact caused massive earthquakes and volcanic activity worldwide.
b)of injuries suffered from direct hits of pieces of the asteroid or comet.
c)dust settled on the leaves of plants, making them inedible, so the animals died of starvation.
d)dust injected into the stratosphere from the impact absorbed visible light from the Sun, causing global temperatures to plummet.
