Thinking about reading it.

In the days of extensive oceanic voyages the captain of the ship would plant his country's flag in the new soil and say "I herby declare this land property of his majesty..." If this logic is carried into the 1960's, doesn't America own the moon and any property and minerals theron?

The earth has a stronger gravitational pull, so if an asteroid went near us wouldn't it be more attracted to the earth. Is it because the earth has an atmosphere and most asteroids burn up on entry?

Given the statement made by 'President' Bush that not only are the US going to renague on the treaty which prevents the militarisation of space, but also PREVENT anyone else from seriously expanding into space because it would be 'against national interest', what are your thoughts?

Since when has the US owned space, and what will it mean for the rest of the world if sattelite surveillance becomes the sole tenet of the US? Do you think that getting into another cold war with china is a good idea?

Thoughts please!

So today I learned that NASA is in the planning stage of building a multi billion dollar Elevator into space. Sound stupid right? Well its true according to NASA it will only cost around $500 per person and be finished when now, current teens, are in their 50's. Sounds REALLY cool but is it possible? What do you think?

As each day has two 12 hour cycles(am & pm), each year has a 12 month cycle(one rotation around the sun), does our solar system have a 24,000 year cycle(one rotation around Sirius)? If so, what changes could this be causing within the evolution of our human consciousness, and what ramifications could this hold in terms of human physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development?

If we go back and find the LMs at the landing sites ... would that convince you?

In that case, will you publicly admit you were wrong?

This article http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061017/sc_nm/space_galaxy_dc says :

"A seemingly violent collision of two galaxies is in fact a fertile marriage that has birthed billions of new stars"

and

"The image serves as a preview for the Milky Way's likely collision with the nearby Andromeda Galaxy, about 6 billion years from now"

but it doesn't say what effect it might have on life on Earth. I would've thought the new forces of gravity between all the nearby bodies would wreak some kind of havoc. Any ideas?

(our sun might have died out before then anyway but let's just assume it doesn't for the sake of the question)
