I can't understand how an observer in either a spherical, hyperbolic or flat universe will be able to tell the difference between the three. Surely if he was to measure the angles in a triangle in all three cases, the light would bend in accordance to the curvature of the universe and show that in each case, the angles in a triangle = 180.

I can understand how this works from an outside perspective of the universe, but not how insiders like this would be able to tell the difference

help!?

A careless driver rear-ends a car that is halted at a stop sign. Just before the impact, the driver slams on his brakes, locking the wheels. The driver of the struck car also has his foot on the brake pedal, locking his wheels. THe struck car has a mass of 900 kg, that of the initially moving car is 1200kg. On collision, the bumpers of the 2 cars stick together. The sliding cars leave marks 0.760m long. Tests show that the coefficient of kinetic friction btw tires and pavement is 0.920. What is the velocity of the moving car as he approached the intersection?

I'm trying to replace a NiCD battery that has 24 sub-C batteries in it. I can directly connect any battery of similar voltage to the unit to power it, so I'm really just looking for a 28V DC battery that I can charge. Each sub-C battery has about 3000mA on it. Now, I know the voltage accumulates to give me approximately 28.8 volts when connected in sequence. Since I'm just looking for a comparable DC power source (again, just leads from the battery to the device), I don't know if I should be adding the amps of each battery to try to find a 28V DC battery at 72000mA. That sounds way excessive and not like something I'd be able to find. Which brings me to my next question: if amperage does get added up, would it be possible for me to just get a charger that would plug directly into the leads on the battery and charge it that way when necessary?

Thanks.

Bohr's ideas about electron orbits helped explain the regularity of atomic spectra but did not explain why the electron should orbit the nucleus only at certain distance. How did De Broglie's ideas of the dual nature of matter help explain the quantized orbits of electrons in atoms?

"A bridge is to be constructed across a river that is 200 feet wide. The arch of the bridge is to be semielliptical and must be constructed so that a ship 40 feet wide and 30 feet high can pass safely through the arch with a horizontal clearance of 5 foot on each side. Find the equation for the arch and approximate the height of the arch in the middle of the bridge."

I'm in 8th grade, and I'm not entirely sure what an exponential relationship is. In class, we're doing exponential growth and decay, so we have to identify if a specific problem describes an exponential relationship.

Could you give me an example with this problem?:

1a. y = 100 * 3^x

So how can you identify an exponential relationship? Does it mean if the problem includes exponents?

Thanks!
