Year......Population
1750.....790
1800.....980
1850.....1260
1900.....1650
1950.....2560
2000.....6080

a) Use the exponential model and the population figures for 1750 and 1800 to predict the world population in 1900 and 1950. Compare with actual figures.

b) Use the exponential model and the population figures for 1850 and 1900 to predict the world population in 1950. Compare w/ actual figures.

c) Use the exponential model and the population figures for 1900 and 1950 to predict the world population in 2000. Compare with the actual population and try to explain the discrepancy.

1 What is the surface area of the figure?
(If necessary, round your answer to two places after the decimal point. Use meters for your answer--but do not write units in your answer.)

i have no idea how to do that.

2 What is the surface area of the figure?

I mean wouldn't it be a good thing if there were water all around us, and we could use that to make it clean and give people. In africa and stuff? So why would there be water shortages? Sorry, but I just wanted to know and I don't know much about climate stuff.

This is a question of space science, regarding certain materials that have either been tested in space, or theorized to last an unestimable period of time.

Is there any kind of material which, if crafted into an orbital space station, would be durable enough to last for millions of years without regular maintenance?

On Earth, there are so many other factors that do not exist in space. There considerations for such things as gravity, dust, microorganisms, erosion and chemical weathering, physical impact and destruction. In space, these factors are cut completely out almost. Is it possible to build a spacecraft that could exist by itself in space, unmanned, for millions of years without ever fracturing? Could the craft remain durable and functional over millions of years, without any period maintenance?

I asked this question last night and got an answer. The answer is totally appreciated, but my gut feel is there is something mathematically wrong here... I was expecting the wind speed to be upwards of 40km/hr, not .7km/hr. Would someone be able to review the math used in the answer? Thank you kindly.

The Original Question...

Convert CFM to KMPH?
ok... I have a fan with a 36" diam capable of moving 10,354cfm. The fan is mounted in a round tube that tapers down to a 2'X2' square tube. Through the 2' x 2' section of tube, approximately what sort of wind speed can I expect? Also, can you provide a formula that can help me calculate this for different CFM values.

The Answer I got...

2' x 2' = 4 square foot cross section
10354 ft3/min / 4 ft2 = 2588.5 ft/min
2588.5 ft/min * 0.000305 km/ft = 0.7894925 km/hr

This, of course, asuumes 100% efficiency. I hope this helps you.

Valentina, the Russian Cosmonaut, goes outside her ship for a spacewalk, but when she is floating 15 m fro her ship, her tether catches on a sharp piece of metal and is severed. Valentina tosses her 2 kg camera away from the spaceship with a speed of 12 m/s

How fast will Valentina, whose mass is now 68 kg, travel toward the spaceship?

Assuming the spaceship remains at rest with respect to Valentina, how long will it taker her to reach the ship?

How fast does the pair roll backwards together?

If Anthony is skating toward Sissy when she jumps, could their combined final velocity be larger or smaller than your answer to part a? Why? show calculations

Thanks in advance!
