The reaction below is first order in COCl2 with a rate constant of 0.045sec-1 .
COCl2(g) => CO(g) + Cl2(g)
How long will it take, in seconds, for 65.4% of the original sample to react?

My answer sheet says that the equation I'm supposed to use is:

ln [ ]time / [ ] initial = -kt

But in class, I was told my equation for a 1st order reaction should be:

ln [ ]time = -kt + ln [ ]initial

Are these the same thing??? And how can this be? I don't remember the rules of logs, especially natural logs.

During the prehistoric days, particularly during the days of larger dinosaurs, it seems there was a large amount of biomass on this planet. In comparison, it seems impossible for such large creatures to survive in modern times b/c there isn't enough food for them to survive. Besides habitat destruction, where did the biomass disappear to? Could it have all turned into fossil fuels? And if so, will it ever reenter the bio-cycle?

I want to either be on a news station giving forecasts, the one flying in a storm plane over the hurricane to get the pressure and all the other good stuff, work in the National Weather Center, or report from areas in the pathway of storms...not tornado chasers though. What will I have to major in? Meteorology and Telecommunications (news)? or just meteorology or combined with something else?
