I'd like to know the "physical difference." Has there been a study that shows a physical difference in the brain when a person has a memory and when they have a thought?

Can anyone explain this question to me?

Use a letter to represent the unknown number and write the problem as an equation. Then, solve the equation.

In a cricket league, teams get 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw, and 0 points for a defeat. After 20 matches, Mathstown have 80 points. They have only had 2 defeats. How many of their matches have been draws?

Anyone have any clue how to write that as an equation and why?

This question is so annoying been trying to work it out for ages here it is. A seawater pumping station is to pump 15.6 t/h of seawater (relative density 1.03). If it is desired that the velocity in the intake is not to exceed 3/ms and the velocity in the outlet pipe not to exceed 5m/s determine suitable inlet and outlet pipe diameters.

you know, from the theory of relativity we obtain:

(dx)^2+(dy)^2+(dz)^2+(c*dt*i)^2=(ds)^2

where dx, dy and dz are distances measured on their respective axes x, y and z.

i is an imaginary number

and c*dt*i is a temporary dimension

and applying the theorem of pythagoras to each coordinate you obtain a "space-time" distance.

I understand that, what I don't understand is the phisical meaning of a "space time distance"

¿what is exactly a space-time distance?

sorry if you find a mistake in the text, I don't speak english very well, I speak spanish.

When I was a teenager in AR (Arkansas, not Arizona), there was an insect that I found on several occasions, but searches to find out what I saw have yeilded no results. I would like some input into what I saw.

It was antlike in it's shape, and about the size of a carpenter ant. However, it didn't have any other "ant" characteristics like brown/black/red color. It was fuzzy like a bee, and had a bright orange and black striped thorax and abdomen. Any clue as to what this insect was/is?
Pics please, or links to pics would be greatly appreciated.

using the formula = E^n=218.0x10^ -20/n^2 Joules

where n is the energy level
find the solution if n = 3, and again if n= 4
* Keep all number relative to 10^ -20 for graphing.

thankyou.

Most people know that pi is the ratio of the cricumference of a circle to its diameter. What is not intuitive, however, is why this number is necessarily a non-repeating number. We know now by the various uses of trigonometry and calculus how to determine pi. When, however, did mathematicians know the nature of pi, and how? I mean, I could measure the circumference of a circle (say, take a string of known length and make a circle with it), then measure its diameter, and I will maybe get 3.14, but of course, my measurement would not be exact enough to know that it is an irrational number. SO....how did they do it?

Taking the big bang theory in account it states that at one point the universe was focused in one area, ss extremely dense and hot. And currently the universe is expanding from a big explosion that occured 13.7 billion years ago. And eventually the universe will retract back into its original state. Anyway my question is have they stated if there have been more than one cycle of this expanding and retracting of the universe? And where did this original material that created the universe spawn from?

I want to study astronomy when I get older and I just realized that I have no idea how a black hole works. I'm also interested in finding out about the expansion of the universe. They say that ever since the big bang, the universe has been expanding. Is that true? If so, what is it expanding into? Just curious... O_o ?
