My granddaughter's dad was required to take a DNA swab when he was being sued for child support by the state.
We all went for the test & I witnessed the proceedure. However, when the results came back it was determined that not enough "viable"DNA was found to determine paternity & another was to be taken.
Alot of people told me he could have done several things to ruin the sample while still in his mouth.
He has been in prison & is knowlegable about many things like this.

With the urge to be living on other planets and meeting alien life, is this just pipe dream or is it destiny for humans to reach the stars.

If so, what effect would we have on alien life if we encounter it, or if we colonize new worlds?

I need your help in deciding which model of telescope to get for a semi beginner.
1. Equatorial Mount, Meade Reflctor scope F=910 D=114 (Meade 114EQ-AST)
or
2: Azimuth Mount, Galileo catadioptric scope F=1100 D=102 (Galileo FS-102DX2)
I'm looking for the best general multi purpose use and those are my 2 options.
Thanks!

It seems that every doctor I see is more than eager to give me prescription for ant-biotics without even hearing me out, or having any form of test results. Twice now I have forked out for anti-biotics only to be told 1-2 days later to stop taking them as I don't really have any infection. I know from my own research that anti-biotics kill of bad bacteria, but also good, so how can doctors possibly hand them out so easily?

Let me be more clear and specific. I have a 2-d sparse matrix of size 10 * 10 of points of different colours . The co-ordinates of the points are integers, i.e points may be at positions (1,1) , (10,9 ) for example but not (1.1,2.5) etc.
Now the Problem is to make an algorithm which finds which points that appear in a series of four or more points in contact with each other and of a particular colour. The colour will be given beforehand. The algorithm should return the set of such points.
An example of points in contact is (1,1) and (2,2). Two points are in contact when the difference between their x-coordinates and y-coordinates are both less than 1.
Please do help me solve this. If you even know where I can find algorithms for co-ordinate geometry and where this particular problem might be covered please do let me know. Its really urgent and important.
Thanks a ton

I was thinking about the relativistic example of the scientist in a box. He feels an acceleration equal to the force of gravity, and is unable to determine if he is at rest on earth, or accelerating at 32 ft/sec squared through space (assume there are no windows in his box). Wouldn't a simple wrist-watch be a device that would answer this for him? I'm assuming that if you accelerated long enough, you would eventually reach the speed of light. So if you waited long enough with no apparent change in your acceleration, you might prove that you are at rest on Earth. Unless you could accelerate in one direction (i.e. not in an orbit) forever and somehow never reach the speed of light (is that theoretically possible?). Also, if gravitons are ever discovered, how would that change the scenario? Could you determine the presence of a large gravitational body like the Earth, or would acceleration itself produce gravitons?
