We live in a three-dimensional world. Things have height and width and length. In a two-dimensional world, life is different. You never ask a child how tall they are, or even which way is up. The clouds never gather overhead, and a little rain doesn't necessarily fall. If you remove a dimension from your world, what would it look like? How would sports be different? If there were no up or down, what would pineapple upside down cake taste like?

Spoiler alert: May involve basic calculus, but nothing you can't handle.

You can write X-square as X added to itself X times, Right?

As in 5^2 =5+ 5 + 5+ 5 +5=25. Okay?

I mean

Let Y = X^2 = X + X + X +X +... X times,

But if you differentiate the two expressions with respect to X

if you take Y=Xsquare, differential is dY/dX = 2X

and otherwise,
its
dY/dX=1+1+1+1+.....1 X times = X

But this curve can have only 1 tangent at a point, it is a parabola , right?

So if the slope is same,

2X = X
=>2=1!!!!!

Howzzat????

Following on from the brilliant moon ballon question and how it would react on the moon, which most people thought would smash to the ground much like a rock, what would happen if a rock, say the size of a ballon hit the moon, it would have so much power and destructive potential so why is it that the moon isnt smashed to peices yet! you can see destruction on the moon but given the amount of space debris it should be destroyed or so I believe if given that the moon balloon would hit the ground like a rock?
