First off, they are CANADA geese (NOT Canadian -- sorry, unless they are actually standing on Canadian soil, of course!!) Second, it is more a case of SHOULD they, not CAN they. From the Coalition to Prevent the Destruction of Canada Geese --
"The natural diet of Canada geese consists of tender grasses and other plant material - they are herbivorous grazers. Geese are also quite fond of foods that are neither particularly nutritious for them (e.g., bread), nor part of their natural diet. While it is often said that such foods are "bad" for them, we have yet to see any scientific studies that prove it. However, it is clear that bread and other foods that bear no resemblance to their native plant-based diet are best characterized as junk food. You shouldn't subsist on junk food and geese shouldn't, either. In moderation, however, there's no harm done."

It is not a good idea to give any animals bread. They have a different digestive system then we do and cannot metabolize it as quickly. If you feed a wild bird bread it will have a false sense of being full and will not seek out the seeds and berries it normally eats to get the proper nutrition to sustain itself. It's better to give the birds wild bird seed which can be bought relatively cheap. You will be helping them and not risk harming them by feeding them what they are supposed to eat.
