For engineering, we must make a car that looks real, and holds an egg. Must be less then 15 in long and 5 in wide. Must have a front bumper system and look real. Cannot be powered or use a break system. Vehicle must carry un cooked egg. Cannot use food items..you must see 50% of eggs, eggs must be removed 15 seconds after crash.eggs must be vertical in vehicle. no gluing or taping egg in vehicle.

My idea, crumble system with egg suspended with rubber band. car will crush in front... egg will wobble but be ok.

Car will go about 20 mph or something like that into a brick wall.

Can anyone help me out? I am wanting to take out a load bearing wall in a small bunglow (30x24) in advance of adding a second storey next summer. I want to support the existing ceiling joists running from front to back (12' each side overlapping in the middle) for a clear span of 15'. I was going to support the beam ends with three or four 2x6's running down thru the floor directly onto the main beam supporting the first floor (really beefy old school stuff).

I need to find out what size the beam should be to support new second storey bedrooms and new roof (and whatever snow sits on it!) and clear that 15' span.

I'm thinking it will be best to use steel to maximize head room passing under it in what will be a living room area?

Any help/advice/experience would be great! thx

I need someone to help me figure out these questions...please! I need to turn in my Chem hw today.

1. A solution is prepared by dissolving 200.1 g of NaOH (molar mass=40 g/mol) in enough water to make 851 mL of solution. Calculate the molarity of the solution

2. Give the correct formula of ions present when sodium carbonate is dissolved in water?

3. What is the net ionic equation for the reaction of any strong acid with a soluble strong hydroxide base, such as NaOH?

4. What ions are present in a solution of aqueous calcium chloride?

5. What ions are present in a solution of aqueous (NH4)2SO4?

6. What is the net ionic equation for the single replacement reaction Ca (s) + 2 HNO3 (aq)----> H2 (g) + Ca (NO3)2 (aq)

7. What ions are present in an aqueous solution of Iron (III) sulfate?

Thank you!

A copper rod and an aluminum rod of equal diameter are joined end to end in good thermal contact. The temperature of the free end of the copper rod is held constant at 100°C, and that of the far end of the aluminum rod is held at 0°C. If the copper rod is 0.88 m long, what must be the length of the aluminum rod so that the temperature at the junction is 50°C?

Right, a mass is moving in SHM on the end of a spring. The question gives me the force constant of the spring, and the amplitude of the motion. Thats all the info it gives.

The question asks, what is the maximum K.E. of this system.

I'm a bit confused because I can't see a way around the problem without knowing either the mass, or the frequency of oscillation

Can anyone give me any pointers?
