Please help i don't understand Piecewise Function?

I found the answer in the back of my book, But I just can't figure ut how they got that answer. The answer is at the bottem, but could you please help me figure out how to do this?

Is there a way to tell how old is a piece of paper is?

For example measuring how old the atom in the paper is
to determine when the paper was created.

I remember seeing on TV. But i don't know what the Method is called. Does anyone here know? Or perhaps know of any other methods of telling when the paper was created? Or any other science facility that can perform this kind of testing?

This is very important to me since the person iam having a lawsuit with has forged fake evidence! You contributions will help greatly!

How to use sampling and summation instead of integration to calculate FS coefficients?
I have to calculate the fourier series coefficients of the sawtooth function but instead of integrating i have to sample the function and the carrier then summate. when i do that the results arent correct. i dont know what i'm doing wrong, any ideas?

Chemical Engineering????What was I thinking..I am SUFFERING?

Ok so I chose Chemical Engineering as a Major. I am in my third year now and it really is starting to get me. I think there are great job opportunities and all, but the major is tough. Really tough I can not handle it anymore, I am about to go nuts. Am I the only one here, or is everyone else suffering the same way? Dammit I go to exams after studying so hard in I might as well not study, cuz all the questions are weird!!!! please share your experience in this major...hopefully there is some light at the end of the road!

READ: which would hit firstt or would both hit at the same rate because gravity is the only force acting upon them would they drop slower or faster or would they float slightly or what would happen.

Why bicycle tyres do not have a flat surface like the tyres in car and other four wheelers?

Cycle tyres are narrow in width, but have a rounded surface and the contact with the road surface is minimal. Whereas, tyres of four wheelers are wider and have a flat surface. When the need for balance is more in two wheelers than in four wheelers, why cycle tyres are made rounded in shape? what are the benefits?

i need precalculus limits in math to be explained thoroughly...like right now =P?

i'm having urgent homework problems..grr. so anyways,

a [sub]n = (n ^3 -1 ) / (2 + n ^2 )

the limit is said to not exist (in the back of the book) but i have no idea why. my teacher didn't explain very good today; we didn't have that much time. so any help is appreciated. i may have other questions about it too, but don't worry, i won't ask for you to give me answers to my homework or anything. i'm just looking to understand this stuff.
