Mach one is the speed of sound through air however this depends on the Ambient Temperature of the air. As the temperature varies according to altitude. For example at 0 dergrees centigrade the speed is 741.43 mph. And at 20 dergrees centigrade the speed is 768.1 mph. Or at sea level, the speed of sound is about 761 miles per hour (1,225 kilometers per hour). At 20,000 feet (6,096 meters), the speed of sound is 660 miles per hour (1,062 kilometers per hour). Try the link below to find the speed at any given temperature. The second link explains the mach numbers in simple terms.

Mach one is the speed of sound wherever that speed is. It varies, the higher up the slower it is as there is less for the sound to travel through so in space mach one would be stationary. One guy who went up in a balloon extremely high jumped out and free fell and exceeded the speed of sound (mach 1) on his decent.
Sound also travels through water 3000 times faster than in air at see level!

Mach one is the speed of sound in whatever environment you are measuring it in. At sea level it's about 760mph but Mach one would be different on Mars on in the accretion disk of a interacting binary star

Mach 1 is one time the speed of sound, therefor it varies in the same way as the speed of sound varies. Approximately mach one is 345 m/s or 1200 km/h

Mach1 = The speed of sound.
Mach2 = twice the speed of sound etc etc.

The speed of sound varies dependent upon temp, air pressure etc, and thus Mach numbers cannot be expressed precisely as mph.

1,225 km·h-1 or 761.2 mph in the atmosphere.

The Mach number is not a constant; it is temperature dependent.

At sea level, with dry air and a temperature of 60 F, it would be 763 miles an hour.
