Two old college friends bump into each other one day at Stafford Street. They hadn't seen each other in over 20 years.
The first guy says to the second: "how have you been?"
Second: "Great! I got married and I have three daughters now"
First: "Really? how old are they?"
Second: "Well, the product of their ages is 72, and the sum of their ages is the same as the number on that building over there.."
First: "Right...ummm...oh wait, I still don't know"
second: "Oh sorry, the oldest one just started playing the piano"
First: "Wonderful! my oldest is the same age!"

QUESTION: How old are the daughters?

Two villages, P and Q, are joined by a straight road 6000m long. Ann left P and ran to Q at a steady speed of 3m/s. At the same instant that Ann left P, Ben left Q cycled to P at a steady speed of 7m/s.

(a) How far,, in metres, did Ann travel in the first 2 minutes?

(b) Calculate the distance between Ann and Ben at the end of the first 2 minutes.

(c) Ann and Ben passed each other at M.
Calculate the Distance PM.

(d) Calculate the time that Ben took to cycle from Q to P. Give your answer in minutes and seconds, correct to the nearest second.

(e) The villages appear on a map which has a scale of 2cm to 5km.
(i) Express this scale in the form 1:n.
(ii) Calculate the length of the joining P and Q on the map.

Consider a gas of N identical spin-0 bosons confined by an isotropic three-dimensional harmonic oscillator potential. The energy levels in this potential are e=nhf, where n is any nonnegative integer and f is the classical oscillation frequency. The degeneracy of level n is (n+1)(n+2)/2.

(a) Find a formula for the density of states, g(e), for an atom confined by this potential.

(b) Find a formula for the condensation temperature of this system in terms of the oscillation frequency f.

(c) This potential effectively confines particles inside a volume of roughly the cube of the oscillation amplitude. The oscillation amplitude, in turn, can be estimated by setting the particle's total energy (of order kT) equal to the potential energy of the "spring". Making these associations, and neglecting all factors of 2 and pi and so on, show that your answer to part (b) is roughly equivalent to the formula for the condensation temperature of bosons confined inside a box with rigid walls.

Since gravity is a property of matter, like inertia, it stands to reason that if a substantial amount of anti-matter were produced, anti-gravity should also be a property. But the mass of the Earth would be considerably more than the anti-gravity produced from anti-matter (In I would bet the next 100 years). So my question is: If there could be no inter-action of matter/anti-matter, and there was a person of my similar mass (6', 210#) that was made of matter on an anti-matter world, would he float in the air above ground? Keep in mind that a person of my similar mass is held down by gravity here due to the size differnce of me vs. the Earth, but the 'anti-gravity' of an anti-matterworld will FAR exceed the amount of matter that's contained in a mass of my size.
