but then again I've put up with stifled free speech before and seen many other people suffer it's effects as well. Certain websites have Gestapo-esque censorship tactics as far as silencing people who's opinions do not agree with theirs (even if it doesn't violate their rules or policies) and people they do not like (IE: banning people, blocking them, etc) often times said websites advisers say or do some of the same things resulting in a hypocrisy that leads to anger and disorder. I guess what I'm trying to say is, (and these websites shall remain nameless for now,) how can people put up with such tyranny and oppression, silencing and aggressive enforcement of one-sidedness? As an American I'm appalled that some websites could hold such authorities over content in such distasteful manners and keep a straight face.

Think about it: If conservatives somehow get EVERYTHING they want, we will end up living in a theocratic dictatorship.

Hey, I was summoned for jurry duty. I had to call in last night for the recording. I was told Group NO. 4 numbers 1-180 had to report. I am in Group NO. 4 number 439. They told me to call back today after 5PM which I did. The recording now says Jurors 1-180 are excused for wensday and they have served there time etc. It does not say anything about 181-600 (or whatever the last number) do I have to go in torrmow? and what time would I go in? If you want to hear the recording the number is (609) 518-2561. Thanks

It seems that a lot of Americans have a very limited knowledge of the U.S. Constitution. What should we tell people who don't think such knowledge is important? Give as many good answers as you can think of!

Thanks.

Is Voting and option or a responsibility once you are old enough?

Do people that do/don't vote anger you?

Do people that complain about politics that do/don't vote bother you?

And Why do/don't you vote?

(and if you'd like, how regularly do you vote and are you and informed voter if/when you do vote?)

Oh, and add the country you live in too if you'd like.

Louisiana has always been known for corrupt politics, but then came Kathleen Blanco, what an embarrasment for this State. This should keep people laughing for quite some time.....Now Hillary for the Nation; hopefully most of the foreign politicians she meets with have beautiful wives so she can throw Bill at them for leverage... ,and if they are gay invite Al Gore. I'll have to ask the man upstairs to forgive me for this one.....

It has been my ambition to bring awareness to the realities of a long ignored and confused debate. That of WMT's profiteering from and aid to the COMMUNIST regime in China in order to undermine domestic labor and avoid living wages with BOTH Clinton's indepth participation for over 20 years. They have equipped the largest standing army ever arrayed to oppose human freedom o this earth in today's Communist People's Liberation Army of China from an ineffective, illequipped and unorganized force only 15 years ago! Hillary in particular has had a most prominent an unseen role in enabling this to happen, a fact I am aware of as a 20 yr WMT insider. How would you tell this story? Where would you turn for help? This is a book entitled "How Hillary & Wal-Mart Saved Communism!" and Wal-Mart is aware of the project. In fact, WMT Chairman Rob Walton has stated this book would "never happen." Thank you for your consideration and suggestions.

Why should I vote? There are two parties that could ever possibly win (anyone who disagrees is dillusional), and they both suck. Either a Republican gets elected, lowers taxes because which raises the national debt, and starts a war, or a Democrat gets elected, does nothing, and folds under even the slightest of international pressures. Voting in America seems to be mainly about picking a guy from one of the two real choices that seems to suck the least. My political leanings tend to fall somewhere near the Democrat line. It is quite obvious that in the next election, one of the "novelty" minority candidates will be picked, and then crushed when the Republicans pull some non issue out of their *** like gay marriage (quickly follwed by the sheep screaming about God's will) Hell, with corporate lobbies, who's to say a President from either party wouldn't just be the same man (yes, twill still be a white Christian male, believe it) with a different gloss? What is even the point?

When you appear to serve jury duty in California and request a receipt prooving your attendence to give to your employer, does it show the time in which you were called to report (i.e.12:45) or just the date (i.e. 12/11/2007)?

Thanks!

I know the possible consequences for not showing up to jury duty. I'm well aware that it's a civic duty and we should all suck it up and help our fellow citizens out.

However, I've talked to many people about the act of ignoring, missing, loosing, or not being in the area to receive a summons. These people all have their reasons, from genuine to irresponsibile. Yet, of all these people, not a single one of them has ever been fined, or smacked with a warrant for failing to appear.

I look at yahoo answers and every question about jury duty is almost always answered with threats that these consequences will definitely happen to anyone who doesn't appear in court.

What's the deal? I can't just happen to know tons of lucky people. Explain, someone, please.

A major topic of discussion in the New Orleans area of late has been whether or not to demolish some low income housing units. They look very bad and have been like that for a long time. My question is, is there a way to fix poverty, just here in the U.S.? The people that live off the government for years and years must be made to get off the free boat. I can understand someone being "helped" for a maximum of 3 years, but you're not suppose to be on there forever. I think you have to find a way to change the culture. The Orleans Parish public schools have traditionally been horrible, but I don't think it's the student's fault. I think the parents of children nationwide should have to push their children to succeed, and be involved in helping them. People being helped should be actively trying to find a job, not getting into trouble with the law, and their kids should be held to a minimum GPA. I think this is a major problem that must be fixed. Does anyone agree?
