"Why Web 2.0 will end your privacy"

Please consider the following.
"....Why are the companies worth so much money? .... Digg knows what stories you've submitted, what demographic you're in, how other people in your demographic react to what you post .....The answer is - data. Information. Marketing. Every detail about you and me. That is where the money is.......The one thing the Web 2.0 sites have in common is that they are furiously mining information about you and your buddies. .... When the Web 2.0 bubble bursts - the innovation will grind to a halt- when the massive buyouts are done, the millionaires are made and the sites we love today are in the hands of big business - the innovation will grind to a halt, and what's left will be the endless grinding of the marketeering machine...."

How in the hell do they expect their vote to count when they don't vote?! I mean I can understand being frustrated about voting for someone who ends up not being elected, but why get angry about who was picked if you don't even vote?

What forms or anything do I need to register to run for a city office (that I live in)? Also, how should I campaign for it, without hiring a campaign manager or team? This is for a small city in U.S. northeast, with a population of about 50,000 residents.

Though USA is believed to be superpower of world it still distinguish between Black and White. If you fill up a government application for Social Security Number there is an optional section which say who you are Black or White.
Is USA still civilized or just show off? Why to distinguish people with colour though there are other criterias?

For a moment forget about the entire immorality of the draft and think about this. If women want to be full citizens, which they are, then shouldn't they be forced to sign up for the draft. If the entire purpose of the draft is to "fight for your country" then shouldn't they be forced to go to war if we need them?

do their civic duty of voting?

(ex. australia fines their citizens)

Now I dont think a monetary fine is the answer, but what if you were required to do community service as your penalty?

These two issues would grab a lot of votes from people who find these issues as most important. This would only be the beginning of a more responsible government. Other issues of course need to be focused on as well.

1. Disaster Preparedness ($30 Billion Levee or $100 Bill in Aid after the disaster)
2.Homeland Security - stay 10 steps ahead of terrorists.
3. Alternative Fuels
4. Stem Cell Research (more funding)
5. Combat Poverty (this would also help abortion rates)
6. Improve Primary Education
7. Gun Control
8. Environmental Protection (we know we can do better)
9. Fix immigration problems. (can't give amnesty but can't deport all)

I just want to gauge where people stand.

A) Terrorists can't be negotiated with. They must be killed or captured. "They hate us" because they - Muslim extremists - hate freedom. In the post-9/11 world, the US cannot wait for "imminent" threats. It must aggressively - even preemptively and unilaterally, if necessary - wipe out terrorist networks and the governments that support them. At the same time, the US can work to emasculate terrorism by aggressively promoting the cause of freedom and democracy around the world.

B) American hypocrisy and hubris led to the Sept. 11 attacks. To answer the question "Why do they hate us?" Americans must question the "might makes right" approach of US foreign policy. To win the war against terrorism, US leaders must remove the conditions that breed anti-American hatred.

Common tactic to do civic participation in world politics are boycotts of all kind. There has been campaigns around the world promoting boycott of companies in Israeli ownership. For me a boycott is an act of hate.

Instead of boycotts could we support companies which are owned by both the Israeli and Arab capital. Companies that work across the borders. Wouldn't this kind of a campaing promote cooperation? Act of love? Do you these companies actually exist?

What's your opinion about this idea?
