notyou, It doesn't sound like you lived in the ussr at that time, where did you hear that from CNN, Gorby tried to tighten his grip on the country to the point that the people revolted because they saw a return to stall's days.

CBH, That's very close to my point. It seems the media Fox, CNN, and the rest of them are chosing the Narrow scope of who we are allowed to even vote for. Now come on people Gorby comes out for Hillary and we are told this is a good thing?

Democrats or Republican it really doesn't matter. They really both stand for the same things. Remember the old adage, absolute power corrupts absolutely? Then why in a nation of the people do we keep the same two corrupt parties in nearly all of our offices?
Gorbachev was actually considered a reformer compared to his predecessors. It was his reforms that eventually led to Russian democracy and the collapse of the "Red Scare". Boris Yeltsin just pushed him aside instead of having the communist party, (which was doomed to failure in Russia after Gorby's social reforms, and relinquishing the grips the Reds had on the Russian people...) die in office.
Legitimate third parties need financial backing in our country in order to make our government more accessible to the people. I agree that Hilary is a bad choice for Pres. So isn't Cheney, or any other politician willing to vote along the same old party lines just to stay in office. Voters need to make that change as well. Too many people vote along the same party lines politicians do without giving issues serious thought. sorry that was real long.

Actually, I think we're closer to becoming a monarchy with hereditary claim to the throne. When Jeb wins the next "election", I'll be proven right

Your ignorance is shocking. Gorbachav was the first democratic leader in Russia. Because of him, there is no more communist party. He was and is a close friend to many US presidents and the American people.
