I've been riding off and on since I was 10, I'm now 33. I actually had an Arabian 8 years ago but it was a disaster. He had an awful disposition and I wasn't experienced enough for him! I'm an okay rider and still have alot to learn. I'm also kind of nervous on a horse since I've been thrown so many times! I know they can sense nervousness. I want a horse that isn't very large, I'm 5'8 and130 lbs. I also want a pretty horse preferably dark bay or black. I don't like the boring brown colors. I know I should go more by personality but I want to get a horse that I think is beautiful as well as gentle and sweet! I also don't want to pay more than $1500, I don't mind an older horse to save money. I would use it mostly for trail riding. I also was thinking about leasing a horse. How does this work and what does it usually cost? Thanks for the help!

He's been fluttering his wings against my window, and I've watched him do it. He's not pecking, he's just coming up to the window and getting so close that his wings are beating against the window when he flies over to it. I work nights, and he does this every morning at about 7:30 or so. It really seems like he wants to get in; god knows, he's been doing this for about three weeks or so. It's kinda driving me batty. Any suggestions as to why he's doing this, and possibly how to stop it, would be sooo welcome...

My Sheltie is only 6 months old but knows everything for the novice class. There is a UKC show this weekend that I'd like to take her to, they accept late enteries. The only thing is that she hasn't perfected everything. She would probably qualify but wouldn't get a top score. I don't really care about UKC and was thinking of just using it as practice for AKC obedience shows. Should I wait until she's more polished? I know most of you will say 6 months is way too young but she is very advanced. She is more patient and eager to learn than any 1 year old dog I've worked with! What do you think?

I recently started giving her tiny pieces of hot dogs for training treats and she gets milkbones every day, Also, if we forget to pick up the cat food she devours it. She actually took a piece of her dog food, put it in her mouth and spit it out! We feed her Science Diet's little bites for puppies. Her coat is so silky, we hate to switch brands! I tried putting chicken broth on it and she still didn't like it. She wouldn't eat any dog food yesterday. She hasn't lost her appetite because she'll eat any people food. She is a bit on the thin side but she does go on a 1-2 hr. walk every day and runs almost the whole time chasing squirrels. We also have a 3 month old Sheltie puppy who will take all her food if he can. She is terrified of him when it comes to food because he'll attack her. We now feed him outside and her inside because of this. Is it possible she's still afraid of him even though he's not around and it affected her eating? Any suggestions? I want to show her!
