The six teens were charged shortly after the local prosecutor declined to charge three white teens who hung nooses in a tree on their high school grounds. Five of the black teens were initially charged with attempted murder, but that charge was reduced to battery for all but one, who has yet to be arraigned; the sixth was charged as a juvenile.

"This is the most blatant example of disparity in the justice system that we've seen," Sharpton told CBS's "The Early Show" before arriving in Jena. "You can't have two standards of justice."

I've been watching CNN's report on the 6 black students that beat up on the white kid in Jena La. They keep saying this was a "fight" in school but a fight requires both sides to throw punches. I, like most, would like to get a true picture of what happened there. No, news organization has reported that the white kid was "attacked" or "assulted." Like most Americans, I think the local DA went way beyond what was required to seek punishment for the black kids, but can't find out what really happened via any media source? Got a link that is not slanted one way or another? What did witnesses say? Who stopped the beating & what did they see?

Last fall in Jena, Louisiana, the day after two Black high school students sat beneath the "white tree" on their campus, nooses were hung from the tree. When the superintendent dismissed the nooses as a "prank," more Black students sat under the tree in protest.

A series of white-on-black incidents of violence followed, and the DA did nothing. But when a white student was beaten up in a schoolyard fight, the DA responded by charging six black students with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

It's a story that reads like one from the Jim Crow era, when judges, lawyers and all-white juries used the justice system to keep blacks in "their place"--but it's happening today. The families of these young men are fighting back, but the odds are stacked against them.

He shouldn't have been arrested, they shoud've let him finish the question, and they should have NEVER tazered him...

This kid should sue the university for abuse of power!

Just when you thought Dan Rather couldn't be more arrogant, more shameless or more laughable, out pops a 70 million dollar lawsuit against CBS and all of his old, equally scrupulously left-wing bosses. Obviously "what's the frequency" Dan doesn't need the money, so we'll assume he has filed suit as a matter of principle. But what sort of principles drive someone who has spent his entire career as an eager, fact ignoring shill for the democratic party and the rest of the left? His overwhelming bias and palpable desire to evict George Bush led him to present the American people with a phony story based on fraudulent documents, yet he's the one who was wronged? There are two prerequisites for being a leftist: blatant hypocrisy and utter shamelessness. Rather has them in spades. Courage, Dan.

I was listening to Rock FM this morning and a news item said that due to the amount of Polish immigrants in the North West, they are considering that our firemen have to learn their language in the event of a fire. Now I am not racist but should it not be a case of them learning to speak English. Where do we draw the line? The medical profession would then also have to learn all kinds of languages. My opinion is that if you come freely to a country that accepts you, you learn our language. I am wrong?
