All of a sudden, I'm nervous. He was a brutal dictator, to be sure, but is it our place to hang him? Okay, assuming the Americans aren't in control of his trial, are we doing the right thing by allowing the Iraqis to hang him?

Iranians hate America. Until the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran was governed by the CIA-backed shah (like a dictator) after he was helped (by the CIA) to overthrow a democratically elected leader in around 1953.
Since the revolution, Iran has refused to supply America with oil. This is why they are giving it to China and Russia.

What reactions on the part of the Islamic insurgency, the Baathists, Sunnis and other groups are to be expected? How will the safety and livelihood of Iraqi civillians be impacted? What if any retaliation should be expected to be seen in Britian, the U.S. and other coalition countries following the execution?

PLEASE - Only well informed answers from those educated about these issues, these cultures and the social/political effects of these events. Raw speculation and discussion are not invited here. Those knowledgeable and informed offering their views of what certain outcomes pend, with a very high degree of certainty are appreciated.

It makes me wonder if who should be executed for these deaths? Maybe Saddam had a method to his madness, Al-Quida would never think of going into iraq while he was in power, now they flock to Iraq and carry out their suicide bombings on a dailey basis. Hundreds of people are dying each day, yet we "Liberated" these people....What a farce.... So does anyone know the number of Iraqi's murdered since the coalition forces Invasion???

In USA if someone is sentenced to death they likely will die in prison before they are executed. Appeals here take decades.

Not sure how they roll in Iraq re: pre-death dining, but in the U.S. all death row inmates get a final meal of their choice 6 hours before the axe falls. (Most popular requests: fried chicken, shrimp) Any guesses on what Saddam would choose?
