What reactions on the part of the Islamic insurgency, the Baathists, Sunnis and other groups are to be expected? How will the safety and livelihood of Iraqi civillians be impacted? What if any retaliation should be expected to be seen in Britian, the U.S. and other coalition countries following the execution?

PLEASE - Only well informed answers from those educated about these issues, these cultures and the social/political effects of these events. Raw speculation and discussion are not invited here. Those knowledgeable and informed offering their views of what certain outcomes pend, with a very high degree of certainty are appreciated.

Well, first of all his neck will almost definitely snap, however if it does not he will suffocate for approximately 3-5 minutes though he should pass out before then.

However, there is nothing that is 99% certain to happen, after he is dead. It is a good possibility that the terrorists in Iraq will increase their attacks for a time but without Saddam, they will be a chicken running around without a head—an army with no purpose but to kill and that kind of force never lasts long against a more powerful opponent.

The U.S, Britain and the rest of the coalition forces are well aware and have bene preparing for an increase in violence and stronger security measures have been put in place.

However, other than a spurt of violence for a time, not much is to happen. It is more symbolic than anything else—the death of a atrocious regime and the beginning of a new era for that country.

No doubt, a good many of Hussein's victims—the few that survived—will be sleeping easier at night.

Don't we all wish he was back in charge?
Especially Bush & Blair.

They found no weapons of mass destruction, and he ruled with an iron thumb - the only way to rule the type of people that live there.

There is only one thing they respect and that is strength.
They are not interested in democracy.
They will never be happy with the type of government the Yanks & the Brits are trying to set up.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Americans put Sadam in charge in the first place to rule the Iraqis.
He actually did a very good job.

he will be burried. The Baathists will probably be the only ones to retaliate. As for civilians it is possible they will be impacted because they are soft targets and the media will be all over. I doubt the military will be much affected other than the alerted status.

no change re: islamic insurgency.
saddam was too secular to be directly linked to the islamic insurgency.

would expect an adverse reaction from the sunni community since saddam was a sunni. this will cause tensions between the sunni's and the shi'ites to escalate.

Retaliation is definatley gonna come about. everytime I talk about it with friends or family I always mention that its gonna be a dark and a bright day in Iraq. First off one of their biggest hold backs (Sadam) is gonna die but then there is gonna be so many suicide bombings and shootings I somehow feel if not hundreds, thousands of people are going to die that day. I sure hope it doesnt happen though.

There will be rioting and mob-violence. The Saddam supporters will take the streets to protest his passing. The Saddam haters will take the streets to celebrate his passing. These two groups will meet and violence will ensue. I just hope our troops DO NOT get put in to the middle of this.

Iraqi Civil War will erupt....Fallujah all over again. The poster above is right..the gates of hell will swing open wide & our troops will be caught in the cross-fire. Hell hath no fury & it is gonna be unleashed.
Too many people worshipped this man (just like Hitler) & those people will be vengeful.

I so completely agree. I mean, one minute, they are all like, we are waiting to right here whilst Saddam would be accomplished. Then, all of a sudden_BOOM! he's lifeless. i think of they permit him pass or somebody died for him or something. I mean, they are former ruler is "lifeless". they could unquestionably have photos for each individual to work out. Like they say, you gotta see to have self assurance it. i myself think of somethings occurring. enable's see what happens.

Since he is to be hanged, the first thing to happen is his neck will snap. Blood vessels in his eyes will explode and he will crap his pants.
