Yeah, it's sad that people died, but this kind of thing happens all the time all over the country. Doesn't the media hype things up more than they need to just to get ratings? If you want any news network for a consistant amount of time, you will see countless false alarms where they think some disaster or calamity is going to happen somewhere, and it turns out to be something stupid with a legitimate explanation.

I remember a few years back, they anounced that astronomers had found an asteroid that was destined to hit the earth and destroy all life in the year 2026 or somewhere around there. The next day, we were all told it would miss and we would be fine.

What are your thoughts on media hype?

LONDON (AP) - Britain's new army chief called for a withdrawal of British troops from Iraq, warning that the military's presence there only exacerbates security problems, according to an interview published Thursday.

Gen. Richard Dannatt described British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Iraq policies as "naive," declaring that while Iraqis might have welcomed coalition forces following the ouster of Saddam Hussein, the good will has since evaporated after years of violence.

The British military should "get ourselves out sometime soon because our presence exacerbates the security problems," Dannatt said in an interview with the Daily Mail released on the tabloid's Web site. "Whatever consent we may have had in the first place" from the Iraqi people "has largely turned to intolerance," he was quoted as saying.

The British government has not yet set a timetable for the departure of its 7,500 troops from Iraq.

Why people have to be soo rude to the people who think the plan crash was terrorist? I mean, if i were there and saw a big kaboom in a 500 ft tall building i'd be thinking "Ahh! TERRORIST!" wouldn't you? or something close to it?

Are GOVTS being paranoid when it comes to citizens travelling overseas, maybe with the slight chance of a terror attack.

What has the world come to when the GOVT doesn't want us to leave the country?

Looks that way, at least after Blair leaves:

The head of the British Army has said the presence of UK armed forces in Iraq "exacerbates the security problems".
Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of the General Staff, has said that the British should "get out some time soon".

He also said: "Let's face it, the military campaign we fought in 2003, effectively kicked the door in."

There are currently more than 7,000 British soldiers in Iraq, based largely in Basra in the south of the couintry.
The comments directly contradicted so much of what the government had said. Sir Richard might be issuing a "very public warning" to the next prime minister, Sir Richard added that any initial tolerance "has largely turned to intolerance. That is a fact."

Sir Richard, who took on his role in August, also said planning for what happened after the initial successful war military offensive was "poor, probably based more on optimism than sound planning".

There was a small plane that crashed into an apartment building on Monday, and the news said: "It only took the jets 10 minutes to respond". In those 10 minutes, that building COULD have been destroyed by yet another plane as the planes that attacked the WTC were just minutes apart. So, what took so long on the response from the Government when the plane hit the building?

Adding to the Nuclear War Arsenals....
Soon every country will want and admit that they have a need for nuclear weapons. And for South Korea, it's not just North Korea that they are worried about. Its also the United States.

Angus Reid Global Monitor : Polls & Research
South Koreans Want Their Own Nuclear Arsenal
October 12, 2006
- Many adults in South Korea believe it would be in their best interest to acquire nuclear arms, according to a poll by JoongAng Ilbo. 65 per cent of respondents think their country should develop nuclear weapons.
Before the start of 2005, seven countries in the world—Britain, China, France, India, Pakistan, Russia and the United States—had acknowledged possessing nuclear arsenals. Under the "strategic ambiguity" policy, Israel has refused to publicly discuss its purported nuclear capabilities. In February 2005, the government of North Korea admitted publicly for the first time that it possesses nuclear weapons

Let's face it. We started it.

Okay, why did so many people think its terrorism? What kinf of stupid plan would it be to hit a 500 foot building, with a tiny 4 passenger plane? Get your facts straight, I cannot believe people thought it was terrorism.

I just watched a story on the news about a pregnant woman being bothered while out walking her dog, by a goat. She called 911 and the police came down and shot the goat five times(he died of course). But doesn't this seem a bit overboard to shoot it five times? Wouldn't once be enough? Or do you think the cop couldn't shoot straight?
