You mean the Autumnal Equinox. It happens on or about the 21st of September now a days, it lasts all day (24 hours) and it has been happenning since the sun first shined on the earth.

What it is is the day that there is an equal amount of sunlight and darkness, 12 hrs of each. It also happens in the Spring on or aorund the 21st of March.

it happends on like sept 22, for one day, and its happend for ever since the beginning of the earth but idk who discovered it
