Why don't more women consider owning a gun?

I just read about a woman who was killed by an ex who was stalking her. She knew it, her friends knew it and the police knew it. He still got her. Busted down the kitched door and killed her. I'm always a little baffled and alot horrified by these strories. Did she have loaded firearms in the house and access to them and the knowledge and commitment to use them? I don't think that I could kill an animal needlessly but I could definately defend myself if I needed to. I'm not wild about gun training and it's boring but I go out with my husband several times a year to make sure that I know how to safely handle one in an emergency. Why are people so afraid of guns and why would they vote away there rights to bear firearms?

How can increased security result in the airlines losing 20,000 luggage bags?

I'm confused. I travel between Edinburgh and London once a week and the stringent baggage security measures I have experienced recently are extremely tight. I am comfortable with the need to do so because i realise that this will (or should) result in a safer flight for everyone. But surely more extreme forms of security should result in less baggage being lost, not the massive 20,000 reported in the press?

Is it fair& reasonable to accuse anyone urging UStroops to pullout from IRAQ is a gutless,unpatriotic,idiot?

Some people, the neocons and other warhawks, have made these accusations about Democrats in general and some retired Republican,Democratic,Independent generals and admirals.
