If I have a leak somewhere in my front yard...I think...how do I find it? My water usage skyrocketed this past month and I have nothing to explain it. Also I can see the water draining from my front yard and running down the street. We have had a ton of rain so I thought it was just runoff, but now I cannot explain the water usage....How can I identify where the leak is? Is there a tool I can get to help narrow the leak in my front yard?

Any help would be appreciated.

Tim

I know this might seem an odd question BUT when a body is sent for cremation, is there a little man behind the scenes frantically unscrewing the lovely brass handles to sell them on or whatever?
This is something that has baffled me for years as people ONLY collect the ashes and even though the furnace temperature is mega hot and could possibly melt the handles, surely there would be a clod of molten metal building up if the handles were left on each time.
Maybe the handles are recycled (taken off and resold to the next person)

I am getting ready to put up one of those pools that holds about 5,000 gallons of water. It is 16ft by 4ft deep. The place where I want to put the pull I believe is where the fill lines from the septic tank run from. Will this crush or damage the lines if I place the pool on top of it?

With the warm weather finally here, there are small red ants coming in through my kitchen windows (I have yetto check the other windows)..without using a poison (I have kids and pets) how do I get rid of them ? We been here a few years now and this is the first time this has happened. The only change is I now have Aloe plants on the window sill, is that what is attracting them ?

What are some opinions of the best way to insulate around the replacement windows when you install them. I am currently using batt insulations and pushing it in all around the window with a putty knife, since I have tons of extra batts to use. What has anyone else had success with? Is that non-expanding foam any good? At $5 a can its quite pricey. Just curious of different or most successfull options out there.

The other day, I cleaned my diamond (the stone part only) with a tiny dab of toothpaste, very gently with a toothbrush. It worked extremely well. However, I have seen about 15% of the websites over the internet saying that toothpaste should not be used since it is too abrasive.

A) Isnt a diamond one of the hardest substances found in nature? If so, then how can toothpaste scratch it? The average person brushes their teeth (2 times a day x 365 days a year x 60 years =) 43,800 times with toothpaste! If it was so abrasive, would we even have teeth left after that much brushing?

B) Someone said toothpaste works by leaving a film over your teeth to protect it. I find that really weird. I usually brush my tongue every morning and I have never noticed any film accumulating on it. Does anyone think that it is true?

Thanks for your help.

Lovely intro right?

When I flush it, it will continue to fill up and flush like 7 or 8 times before it finally shuts off,

It isn't like it has LOADS of stuff to flush down or anything.....simple pee.....8 flushes.

Is my toilet possessed or is there a simple way to fix this problem?

They are planning to build houses on the ground adjacent to my house. During the building of these houses they will be destroying a lovely mature tree that has stood there for many years.

Is it possible to get a preservation order on the tree and if so is there any rules and regulations attached to the preservation order?

The tree in question is about 30ft tall and has a trunk girth of approx 3-4ft.

I live in the oldest street in a village not a town.

There is a triangular corner area in our front yard next to paved drive way where growing a tree is the best choice we think. Unfortunately there are some electic wires underground in that corner, so we need alternative ideas.(not heavy structure on that). the size is approximately base 7 feet and height 10 feet. has retaining wall about 1 feet already at the base side and right now we have filled up with mulch and small bushes on side of base.
