They are only surface scratches from aluminum pans etc. I had cleaning ladies do a great job once (they moved before I could ask them) - so it can be done. I have tried: filling with pure bleach and let sit overnight, toothpaste, $14.00 commercial procelain cleaner from a plumbing store, scouring with baking soda.

Today when I went to take a shower I turned the know on and nothing happend. However when I turned it the other way (towards cold/off) the water came on. The knob turns a little both ways with the middle being off now. It does not turn enough either way to get the hot water to turn on or have a full stream. Everything was fine yesterday and no one else uses this shower. This shower knob is a single knob - Turn all the way to the right for off and turn left to turn it on and more left to add hot water. I did not have time to take it apart before I had to leave this a.m. Anyone know what the problem could be? Maybe it just got out of alignment or something?
