My new Years Resolution to to consistently keep my place tidy but I don't know know since I did not do this growing up. My parents are pack rats that use duck tape to keep out the drafts! Yuck! I just need some organization skills. How do you organize a large house by yourself when living with parents & small children?

Ever watch the show Clean Sweep? Have a Keep pile, and Sell pile and a Give/Throw away pile. Do it in every room and then have a yard sale.

ha! I was raised almost the same way.. A pack rat parent..
I suggest dont look at the overall picture, it might be too overwhelming... look at your house in grids.. take a corner or a closet and deal with it and only it.. then start slowly working your way around.. get some big boxes or leaf sized trash bags and put like things in them (that dont normally go in the area you are messing with) then later when you do a bathroom and you took bathroom junk from the closet early on, you can refer back to that garbage bag and take out what you need.. Also my rule, if 2 full rounds of seasons have come and gone and you havent used it.. sell it, give it, or trash it..

Mintee is so right. You've got to start small, otherwise you will be overwhelmed immediately. I use (off and on) flylady. Go to http://www.flylady.com Flylady understands and it truly works! If you get off track for a day or two (or month or whatever), start again. You can do this, you just have to understand that your cannot do it ALL this very second. Baby steps!
