Skin Conditions - March 2007

My 7 year old daughter started out with a pimple looking spot on her face at the beginning of the week. It appears to be getting bigger and is developing a rash underneath it on her cheek. Should I be concerned or will this go away? Is there anything I can put on this or should I take her to the doctor? She seems fine otherwise and isn't running a fever.

And back in the old days people use to tie there hair around them until they dry up and just pinch them off, or nowadays they just burn them off using a laser...

I have oily skin and I'm 14 years old. I have acne on my face, neck, chest, and back and they are mostly whiteheads. I have been using Differin topical gel for about 3 months, but I haven't seen a difference in my skin. Do you think switching to Proactiv would be a good idea? If so, how long would it take to clear up?

I noticed on my back, more on my left side, that there was somewhat of a bump, but it felt like it was more inside my skin than on the surface. It wasn't colored or anything so i don't think it was a blackhead, and it didn't hurt at all. When I pinched it, it felt like a hard pimple, but was on the inside of my skin. I squeezed it and a long, white pus like tail game out. It was about as long as my index finger (about 4 inches). I showed my parents and they had no idea what it was. The bump is now gone and it looks like nothing was ever even there. I just want to know what it was. So could anyone help me to identify as to what this thing was?

I've had acne for maybe three years now. It has become infected and I seriously feel like I've tried everything! Now my infection seems to be under my skin. I don't know what to do. I've been to dermatologists and I'm even on an antibiotic right now, but NOTHING works. I'm so depressed about this. It's seriously ruining my life. I just want it to go away. Please, I need someone to help me. Tell me what I can do without a dermatologist because they don't help.

I am 21, and I have never had breakouts like I am having now!! They are horrible. Is there anything that works and I mean REALLY works?? Preferably something you've tried and loved? i have these small cuts on my face that are no bigger than a pencils earaser, but they annoy me. does anyone know how fast it would heal if i put salt and water into a bowl and dapped it on the cuts

I am a male and i normally use rubbing alcohol but one of the pro-active reps said its one of the worst things to put on your face?? However it does dry my face out temporarily and prevents some acne...but what can i use to dry out my skin thats healthy and not expensive??

I have a rash on my finger and its all dry and ichy in the morning it sarted after i took my ring off and its affected on half of my seccond finger and spreding to another finger it used to have little spots that clear liquid squezed out they have gone and i think its effecting my vision. ok, so i have this very little blue piece of something on my chest under my skin. if i rub my finger over it its hard and if i pinch it on either side i can feel it stab against my skin, ive had it for years, dont know where it came from. one day, i took sum shots and cut around it cuz i wanted to get it out and well i noticed it was kinda white and flimsy and it seemed to be deeper than i thought so i didnt mess with it. any ideas med students and docs?

I have what i am pretty sure is a boil on my inner thigh - its bl**dy horrible and i don't know how i got it (i'm very clean and drink alot of water). I am 36wks pregnant (i don't know if that is relevant) - but anyway it hurts like h*ll - seriously sore. I have tried a hot compress to try to "draw it out" (i think thats the term?) but it hasn't worked. It hurts to walk because of the pressure and even sitting in certain positions cause pain. At the moment it is just a lump (no "head") so i can't even squeeze it (sorry - thats gross i know).

Any suggestions? This ON TOP of all my pregnancy aches and pains is a killer - i'm going to burst into tears cause i just can't handle all this discomfit and pain!!
