my mother underwent a double masectomy and had the lymphnodes on her right side removed. the cemotherapy and radiation burnt her skin badly. when she began treatment for reconstruction they implanted bladders in her chest to slowly streatch the skin and of course it was very umcomfortable even painful. she has had trouble lifting her arms above her head and moving heavier objects around the house. will that problem get better, worse or stay the same after her surgey? I know it is impossible to say for sure, but anything you have to say would be appreciated, hopefully from those of you who have experience with this subject.

This is one for Panda I'm sure, as you've answered a similar question before that I've read. An asker posted a question up here before about cancer patients being "opened up" and was wondering if the air going in would cause the cancer to spread. You had said that it doesn't always happen like that, depending on the type of tumor.
You've answered some of my cancer questions before concerning my mother in law and I'd like to know (if you know) a little more. She is now in stage 1vb, cervical cancer that has spread to the legs, spine, and medulla (and possibly more). It's not my place to ask the doctor and only know what she says. A couple weeks ago (she's been lying down for 2 months almost) they inserted a tube to drain fluid from her lungs. If someone like her has very aggressive cancer, could this possibly be a danger, since she was opened up? I really wasn't sure - I had someone close to me pass away from this very same thing last year, and it spread when they opened him. Thanks.

Did white house press secretary Tony Snow have all of his colon removed years ago and does he have a colostomy? During an interview yesterday w/ Brian Williams he looked very sick. Has the cancer spread to his liver? What's his prognosis? My prayers are with him and his family at this time.

Do not say 'there is no known cure' because that's doctor talk for 'you do not have enough money to purchase this cure'.
I know there is some type of cure for cancer because, like I stated in my last question, I read some type of science magazine on it.
It has to deal with the injection of some type of charged microscopic gold platelets into your blood stream. Then after a few hours or days they put you under a heat lamp.
Or something of that sort.

my 90 year old grandmother had a routine check up last month. they found a lump on her breast so they sent her for further testing. last week we found out she in fact has breast cancer. the doctor is talking about removing her breast. she is taking it a lot better then any of us are. she says " well im 90 years old i have never really had any serious illness in my life and i have lived one hell of a life (her words ok), im ok with what has happen to me". she is so brave. i want to be just as brave. i have one of the closest families that i know. my grandparents are over all the time. we all do everything together. when im home that is. im deployed to japan right now and it kills me that i can't be home to spend time with her and my family. im scared im going to get a call you know those calls people pray they will never get. im scared and keeping it all in. i know that not good. but what else can i do?this is just one of the many stressful situations i have to deal with while deployed
