I'm 22 years old and the primary cook in my home has left. I know it sounds bad but i never learned to cook. I am as kitchen literate as probably a 9 year old.

I live with my dad, my bro and sis me being the youngest. However, no one has taken the initiative to cook so I will.

I'm used to traditional mexican dishes. But i'm pretty much up for anything. Please send your help and be as specific and detailed as possible.
thx guys ym

I am trying to expose my boyfriend to my Puerto Rican culture by making him dinner on his birthday.

The problem is he thinks Puerto Rican food is like Mexican food [it's totally not] but he doesnt believe me and keeps asking me to make him enchiladas and tortillas

What can I make for him that won't scare the crap out of him while eating?

So far, I have Sancocho [stew with beef, corn and potatos], habichuelas [beans], and tostones [green banana "chips"]

My mom refuses to give me her rice recipe until i get married so anybody have a good Puerto Rican rice recipe?

I'm tryin to find a more authentic recipe for Bun Rieu close to the way my mother-in-law makes it right out of Saigon. I have a recipe but its not like the Bun Rieu she makes so I'd like to try other recipes from other vietnamese ppl. Does anyone else use tofu in their Bun Rieu. It tastes so good.
